The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The facilities within were more than adequate for my needs as a single man. The staff in the White Hart who served me for breakfast and evening meals throughout my stay were welcoming and helpful and were a credit to the entire experience. I stated to reception that daily cleaning within my room would not be necessary and on my return at the end of each day it was a pleasure to be 'home'.
With autumn here and temperatures falling some heating would have been helpful on a couple of days. The TV's internet service dropped out temporarily frequently which was a minor irritation when trying to follow the program being watched. On one morning when the Hotel was very full seating in the restaurant became an issue for some customers at breakfast time. Perhaps consideration could be given to committing your guests to particular time periods to spread the load over the meal time available. At least two couples left without eating which I'm sure will have affected their stay.

We had a fabulous stay in this beautiful location. It was lovely to be able to explore the gardens and estate grounds at our leisure, as well as enjoying discounts in the on-site Barn cinema, pub and shop. We didn’t make use of the gym facilities, but they are included too. The breakfast was ample and delicious. It is an easy and beautiful 30 mins walk into Totnes, so you can leave the car behind (parking also included). In fact, so much is included that I suspect it would be worth staying the night instead of paying for everything as a day visit! Thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful and stunning buildings and setting around the Quad in particular. Friendly and easy check in staff. Room was cosy but fine. Bed was comfy and nice to have extra blanket if needed. (It wasn't!) Clearly very efficient heating as room was baking initially - had to open all the windows to cool down. Liked the Fair-trade tea/coffee in room. Liked the big fluffy towels. Meal in White Hart was very good as was breakfast. Check out - again friendly and easy.
Didn't expect to have to pay for parking, even though overnight was free, still had to pay daytime which was annoying. Only to be expected that the very old bedroom door didn't fit well and the gap all round let in the corridor light. Then that corridor light was movement-sensitive, so every time someone walked along the corridor or I turned over in bed, the light went on like Blackpool Illuminations! Way too bright and v annoying! Tea - thanks for including decaf but only 1 sachet? Bedside table lamp too low to be much use and room would benefit from lamp/light over small table/desk. Bathroom door - when opened, it bashed against the huge ceiling lamp shade and likely to cause damage.

The area is absolutely incredible and this was the perfect location to stay at to explore South Devon. Breakfast was delicious and the grounds are the most peaceful and beautiful - was above and beyond our expectations. Any issues we had with the booking of breakfast for example or understanding how to get around were solved immediately. Dartington Hall also has its own cinema where we went a couple nights and had a wonderful time with lots of residents attending too who were lovely to meet. Cannot recommend it enough!
We had expected travel without a car to be somewhat difficult so ideally there would be more clarification on the website of how buses and transport systems work. Other than that there is absolutely nothing to fault!

Setting is fantastic, bed was great, and breakfast at the White Hart was very good. The shower was a great size with plenty of hot water. The toilet room was a bit cramped, but we didn’t spend a lol of time in there. The gardens are great, even in the winter.
Most amenities were provided, and we knew the toilet and shower were across the hall, but all the doors were so loud to unlock and open and close and relook even though we tried to do in quietly. The bed only had a night stand on one side (though there was plenty of room for another one) so there was no place for the phone or a water glass but the floor. My long arms helped, but shorter people may fall out of bed trying to get to their phone or drink. Stayed 2 nights but the room was not made up the second day and we feared we may run out of toilet paper, but our rationing scheme got us through. Will remember to ask for a spare roll next time.

Amazing room, stunning views onto the grand court. Restaurant was very good and there's a handy lounge downstairs from the bedroom so we could socialise with the baby on the monitor. Staff friendly and helpful. We had a separate bathroom but there were nice robes to cross the corridor in and the bathroom was lovely and clean with a great shower. We paid an extra fiver for a travel cot but to be honest this location is stunning and I couldn't quite believe we only paid £70 for b&b. Breakfast was also excellent.
Nothing. It's a bit youth hostel vibes but such an amazing setting and great vfm

The breakfast is all encompassing with plenty of options to suit every dietary need,-in a self serve buffet style taken in the historic great hall-. We enjoyed the informality of this very much. The staff were friendly and warm and readily helped with a couple of small issues with no hesitation,-we have stayed here before and really enjoy the fact that there is a cinema for wet days and an excellent cafe with a terrace for sunny days -all food served in the White Hart pub is sourced locally and cooked with pride by the chef/ team-the gardens are a feature of this unique site alongside the stars of the show -the buildings This is a good starting point to explore this part of Devon -Not for those who need lots of attention though
The rates were good for our stay so I’m not really complaining but as the weather was changeable it could have been a tad warmer in the room- but as we are all trying to keep the energy costs down in our own homes and just seeing the size of this place I feel guilty for even mentioning it- so bring a woolly !

Beautiful, very peaceful grounds for lovely morning walk, fabulous barn cinema, convenient location, room was very clean, interesting history, free parking, nice new bathroom/shower, lots of towels and a first rate contemporary cafe with wonderful food all on sight. The room rate with breakfast was very good considering all the additional extras.
We were given a room at the very top of the building- I should have asked for a lower floor, the decor is very plain and not very aesthetic for a place with past art heritage, didn’t sleep well as the bed was hard, the breakfast room in the White Hart is also not very ambient and the coffee with our breakfast was horrible and cold!

Beautiful grounds. Luxurious deluxe room. Lovely comfortable bed. Very clean and fresh feeling. Good breakfast at the White Heart. The property was very accommodating when our plans changed and we needed to bring our dog at the last minute. Lovely, helpful reception team.
We stayed in the Florence Suite and while the bedroom was excellent, we found the living room uncomfortable, particularly the sofas. We struggled to get disabled parking near the property as all the spaces were taken by people not displaying disabled badges. In fairness, the reception team took this very seriously when we reported it and promised to review their systems.

Beautiful location (expected, but surpassed expectations). Staff warm, friendly and helpful (unexpected, definitely surpassed expectations). Right priorities - immaculate bedlinen, towels and robe, preservation of the character of the place, use of local sources. I liked the much nicer bedside light that I was lent to replace a broken one (see below). I liked the view from my room (West Wing). I liked the home-made granola. The description 'wedding and conference centre' made me expect the old Dartington to have been turned into an ordinary corporate enterprise, but I found nothing of the sort.
I was glad that the small bedside desk lamp went out, as I didn't like its meagre light that was too poor to read by. I was loaned a lamp by The White Hart, which gave a beautiful warm glow to the room. I didn't like having a firedoor between my room and the shared bathroom, and I didn't like having to unlock the shared bathroom every time with a key (and it took two hands as well to turn the key and the handle together). If there is a bolt on each cubicle and shower door, why does the outer door need to be locked anyway? The fruit at the breakfast table (not sourced locally, of course) was disappointing, all the emphasis seemed to be on the cooked breakfast.
