Location was excellent being next to the train station.
The breakfast could do with improving. My wifeâs veggie breakfast was under cooked and the beans were cold

This is a traditional inn of some antiquity, apparently refurbished and extended by a hotel company. The location was perfect for my intended purposes - a sports event in the village and a visit to the famous Duxford airfield and museum. There was a good atmosphere throughout the stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, even after I accidentally took the headboard from my bed right off the wall, in the msitaken belief that it was attached to the bed. The food was excellent. It was not just that the "traditional hotel breakfast" was offered. I had a magnificent steak for dinner on one of the three nights I stayed. I wanted to have dinner more than once but, on the Sunday, I found everything closed at [from memory] 7pm . I was told that this is normal for the district, but I can't help thinking that the location is thereby losing out on potential profit. My room was comfortable, but small, even for a single room. This was OK for the three nights I stayed, but would become irksome for anyone wanting an extended stay. The bathroom was clean, modern, but tiny. There was no shelf on which to park toiletries and, on reflection, I couldn't see where there might have been room to erect one. The shower was a tight squeeze and the shower head is non-dirigble. This is fine for a day, or a few days, but an extended stay might be different.
See above!

Clean comfortable room, plenty of hot water - breakfast was just great in choice and quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Parking is a bit chaotic - only 10 allocated spaces to service 18 rooms and other patrons. When we turned up the allocated car park was full and I had to leave the car in the main carpark (operated by Smart) to get help from the staff. Iâm fully expecting to receive a ÂŁ100 fine even though I paid ÂŁ12:50 for 12 hours parking. Staff should have been a bit quicker to get me to register for the 2 hrs free parking on arrival to avoid a fine.

Lovely welcoming team. Parking was excellent for us and walking in with our dog after a long tiring day the greeting was really lovely. We were offered food and drink immediately and our dog also was made to feel welcome. There are no ground floor rooms and no lift so wouldnât suit some people. The room was pleasant and bed comfortable. The shower was a rain shower type which isnât adjustable but it was warm immediately and powerful. The only downfall was it needed better cleaning. It looked like the toilet had been blocked at some point and had overflowed with mashed up dried toilet paper. We didnât complain though but I know it would have been addressed if we had done. The building is obviously old and as such has its own peculiarities and quirks. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again. The welcome and attentiveness makes up for small deficiencies. Thank you.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful, The food was good both in taste ,choice and quantity, This very ancient building is very cosy and interesting and whilst it's position is next to the railway station ,there is very little noise and this is more than compenated by the frquent service to near- by Cambridge Our double Bedroom was of good size and the bed very comfortable
The age and nature of this graded building, limits the modifications that can be made and our en-suite shower room was very small as was the washbasin , but what we realy missed was a simple shelf as there was nowhere to place small items such as soap dishes, razors or even a tooh brush!

I liked the warm friendly welcome from the staff, and the cleanliness of the room and its easy access. Evening meal was nice and the breakfast selection was varied.
I have to mention the parking, and whilst it was evident that there was an automated system in place with signs every where, it wasn't clear or made clear(staff admitted and apologised for not informing me on arrival) that there was actually two separate areas for the two seperate businesses. Its a shame the two venues couldn't be covered by a single system.

Staff were lovely, friendly and very welcoming. Building was over 500 years old which was cool. We only ate breakfast but it really exceeded our expectations, food was delicious. Hotel had parking is right next to the train station which is only a 9 minute train into the centre of Cambridge. Finally the price was so reasonable compared to anything else we found. Iâd highly highly recommend this place.
Really donât want to write anything negative about this hotel because I really enjoyed our stay. With the building being over 500 years old the room was slightly hot but there was a fan in the room and can understand where this is an old building.

Again, another great stay. In the evening, the chefs homemade food is amazing, would highly recommend the homemade scotch egg and pickle as a light meal. The Inches Cider is crisp and itâs evident of the beer pipe management. Comfy bed in a clean room so I slept soundly . High quality ingredients used for breakfast. Staying in this wonderful historical building is great value with amazingly helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend,
Ah, whilst the quality of the breakfast is great, but on every visit the simple breakfast request has been completely misunderstood. I can only imagine the poor simple creature that prepares the breakfast lives in the lower echelons of this wonderful historic building and howls at the passing trains, that cannot be heard by the human ear, as he grunts as breakfast orders that are relayed by the helpful and polite waitress. If there is ever a remake of the Goonies, there will be an opportunity for another breakfast chefđ

Food was good,we had dinner at the pub which was nice, breakfast buffet was generous with lots of choice and tasty. Great location for IWM Duxford the next day.
Bit confusing knowing where to park. I went in on arrival to ask and was told we could park anywhere in the car park behind the pub but not that this was free, so we followed instructions on the signs and paid which was expensive. Some clarity on the site would be good, we didnât want to risk a fine. Room was ok given the price, but some odd things like v tucked away tea and coffee in a jar, two cups, one saucer and one glass, which was odd and it needed a bit of TLC to be honest. Do note, this is an old building with steep stairs to the rooms. Characterful and nice pub downstairs, nice garden and friendly staff. Under new management apparently so that might explain odd things.

Amazing stay all staff were lovely warm friendly & welcoming, The room was clean and had what you needed it was very quiet . The barman on Saturday evening was brilliant and really chatty he made us feel very welcome đ Breakfast was incredible such a wide variety of choices from a full English to continental, fruit , cereal & yogurt & the chef was so helpful very happy to cook anything you requested . Would highly recommend & will definitely be staying again soon âĽď¸ xx
Our room had a small wet patch on the floor next to the bed . Possibly the previous guest may have split something, Couldn't work cold tap on the shower but that might just have been me being silly . We will probably request maybe a kingsize bed as we found the bed little on the small side, although it was very comfortable to sleep on !! just our preference . Same goes for the duvet we found it a little small . Other than that perfect stay & lovely little hotel xx
