Lovely quiet location on the outskirts of Bruton, on arrival Ann came out and introduced herself, showed my husband the best place to park our motorcycle, she couldn't have been more accommodating. She showed us to our room very big , bright with fabulous views, spotlessly clean. We had a few drinks and ordered delicious home-made food. Had a great sleep, so peaceful. Breakfast was amazing, set in the lovely dining room with picture windows, full english was one of the best.
Nothing loved everything

Lovely quiet location in a super landscape. Rooms were quite basically appointed but more than adequate. Spotlessly clean. Restaurant made the most of the view. Staff friendly and efficient. Evening meal offered a good choice and very well cooked and presented. Not the ubiquitous "pub grub". Highly recommend.
A bit more variety for breakfast buffet would have added to the experience. Towels were on the rough side, but that's a minor quibble.

A real gem of a find. Friendly hosts, top rate accommodation, a comfortable, clean bed. Warm welcoming room with excellent facilities. The breakfast was amazing with a decent pot of tea. The dining room was warm with fantastic views despite the rain. The staff serving were so friendly and smiling. A great start to your day. I cannot praise this lovely accommodation enough. We use the area alot and we will most definitely be making it our regular stop off.

The Old Red Lion is in a beautiful, quiet rural location. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a lovely view of Alfred’s Tower. The rooms are modern with good, fast wifi. The evening meals are very good and we especially enjoyed the fillet steaks which were perfectly cooked. Breakfast was good with cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt and a choice of cooked dishes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Tom and Ann are brilliant hosts at this lovely, old pub.

Great stand alone location with ample parking. The room was great, very clean and spacious with toiletries supplied in the bathroom and tea/coffee in the room. Fantastic views very peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was amazing with a good choice but the cooked breakfast is highly recommended. Will definately stay for longer next time.
Couldn't fault it.

So many positives to list; I was a solo guest for work. Excellent Wi-Fi, with great BT connection all through the establishment. Excellent, locally sourced meat for dinner and breakfast, cooked to a very high standard. All fresh produce, even including freshly pressed coffee! Lovely house wine; clean, crisp lager on tap & delightful staff. Usually stop-overs are bland, but if ever I was travelling through for work again, I would welcome another stay here.
If I was being absolutely pedantic, I would have preferred a chair, rather than a stool, sitting at a desk in my room, but it certainly made do for circa 2 hours work that was needed. Take nothing away from the overall experience.

Tom & Anna are lovely hosts, the pub is in a lovely, quiet country location with modern rooms but an olde worlde cosy pub. The food is excellent, proper home-cooked meals with generous portions for both evening meals & breakfast. Good selection on the menu too. Great place for business or pleasure stay. This is the 3rd time I've stayed and I will be staying again!
No complaints.

The breakfast was wonderful ingredients cooked with the same love and skill as the excellent dinners, We had amazing vegetables with our evening meals - including the best cauliflower cheese ever. The chicken liver pate and the mushroom crepe in blue cheese sauce were amazing and Anne's Steak & Kidney pudding was scrumptious. The bar is like stepping back in time, a totally genuine snug, lovingly looked after by Tom. I am so so glad we chose to stay there.

Lovely traditional inn with stunning views and a friendly welcome. The room was basic but spotlessly clean with a good shower and electric sockets by the bed - and the food was outstanding. Traditional home-cooked fare prepared to a really high standard.
Nothing! The rooms are a little dated but that's all part of the charm

The breakfast and evening meal were as good as you can get particularly as the owners indicated that they were 'short of staff'. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were great. The very modern Bedroom and Dining areas were spacious and gave spectacular view. The whole experience was delightful and a surprise to enjoy the very rural area of Bruton. The visit to Alfreds Tower which was seen on a distant hill was well worth a visit.
Nothing at all could have improved our visit
