The Sheildaig Farm is the perfect homestay in the hills of Balloch surrounded by stunning nature. Located up a winding path, easy to get to by car/ taxi or a walk , you are in the midst of pure natural beauty. Enjoy the open skies, benches to sit outside with your coffee, a delicious breakfast by the host, well stocked up kitchenette with milk, sugar, coffee, cereal, bread, juice, biscuits, etc. Walk to the Balloch castle and back or take a cab to the Marina Duck Bay Restaurant on Loch Lomond or the balloch House. Take a cab to Luss which is only 15 minutes away and enjoy this thoroughly picturesque, safe and comfortable home.

The setting was absolutely lovely. We werenât expecting the amount of food that Lesley provided, so we stopped on the way for supplies. We didnât need any of it! Tea, coffee, orange juice & milk, all topped up if we needed. The same with bread & cereals. We were offered a great selection of hot breakfasts too, complete with a cafetière of good coffee. Really good decor, with a very comfortable bed. Modern, nicely decorated bathroom, with the softest towels Iâve ever come across. Some good, welcoming touches, with a little dish of sweeties on the table & Tunnochs tea cakes & wafers waiting for us in the cupboard too. Pretty much everything we needed was provided. Loved the dogs too âşď¸
Nothing.

Beautiful farm, with a huge area of lawn ideal for resting after hours of hiking. The host Lesley was wonderful, she cooked and hand delivered our delicious breakfast every morning! She even welcomed us with a bottle of wine! The farm is very quiet, very well kept, it has a huge private parking area. One can actually see Loch Lomond from the property. We spent three nights there and visited lots of surrounding areas like Stirling Castle, Loch Katrine.
Nothing.

We stayed 2 nights at Sheildaig Farm, when exploring the area around Loch Lomond. The host was very friendly and we felt absolutely welcome. A delicious breakfast was brought directly to our room, which we enjoyed a lot. We were excited about the provided heater, which you can use reliably 24/7, so we were never cold, but warm and cozy. We enjoyed our stay and do absolutely recommend this Bed & Breakfast.
You should probably be aware of the truely bumpy path up to the property. There are lots of potholes.

Loved everything about the property. The room was lovely, the bed was super comfortable, the location was dreamy and the host was so thoughtful and catered to our every need. She was helpful with ideas for places to visit nearby as well. The view from the hill above the property was amazing.
The only thing we had difficulty with was regulating the temperature in the shower (maybe there is a knack to it) and the pressure was low.

Great location with a very friendly host, amazing views and just far enough from Balloch to let you feel like your in your own wee pocket of silence.
Nothing regarding the property but we cycled there and the hill in front of the property killed us lol. Be sure to have a car that can handle a decent hill or be fit enough to walk up. The views on the way are definitely worth it.

Exceptional hospitality in an idyllic location close to Loch Lomond and convenient for a stop off if travelling further north, which we were. The full Scottish breakfast was outstanding (notable mention to the Haggis and Black pudding!). There were lots of other special touches like Scottish treats which set this apart from others. Would definitely return and stay longer next next time as it was a quick stop off on this occasion.
Absolutely nothing. It was just perfect

The property in general is situated in a beautiful area. Our room was spotless and well organized. Lesley is extremely welcoming, helpful and accommodating. Very abundant and delicious breakfast freshly made every morning, brought to us straight to our room at our requested time - 3 meals available including a vegetarian option. Cupboards filled with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, snacks, biscuits, sweet treats, fresh orange juice and milk - which were re-stocked every day. Beautiful adjacent field where you can explore and enjoy views of the loch - got to see a deer too! Certainly exceeded our expectations!

We liked how Hospitable the hosts were. Located in a beautiful farmhouse setting. Its great its within a centralised location to local areas As its a family home, as well as a B&B it has a homely feel and doesnât feel you are in a business/Hotel/guest house- definitely felt like a special guest to their home. - fantastic facilities within room space (Table, fridge, microwave, cupboard space, toaster, TV, Hair dryer etc) - the dogs were wonderful - the hot breakfasts served at our room were delightful
- The bumpy potholed country road up to farmhouse - plumbing/water supply is sensitive when it comes to the toilet.

The road up was a bit bumpy, but we were welcomed by a very nice dog ;-) and the host was very friendly. The place is very nice and calm. The room was classy, clean and the bed and shower were very good! The breakfast we ate at the picknick table in the sun was very delicious. If we come back to Scotland and are in the area looking for a place to stay, we definitevly go here.
The breakfast was so divers it probably wouldnt fit on the table in the room.
