Location was safe. Some hostels have a drop off service to city centre, this is a big ask but would be beneficial in peak season.
Breakfast was available as an extra, too much sugar in the cereals, it would have been good to get some plain yoghurt rather than laden varieties. Too much white bread. There were some good fruit options. Some plain oats would have been nice.

The hostel's location in Kelvingrove Park, the view from the dorm window and the lovely ground floor lounge. Shared bathroom facilities in the dorm were also excellent, and having tea and coffee and filtered water on tap in reception great.
Getting a bed on the third floor and having to carry my case upstairs! (I was staying in a hostel for the first time in 30+ years specifically to save money and I knew there was unlikely to be a lift and certainly nobody to carry my case, but I am 62 so this was unwelcome - but perfectly doable!)

The hostel's location is quiet, posh, opposite a nice and hilly park; The interior, I liked it. The dining area and the kitchen are great, you'll find everything you need there. Matrasses are comfy. The hostel is clean, which was the main point I was looking at when looking for a place to stay. The staff are nice, they eagerly help you if they can.
The hostel lacks proper isolation of interior walls. The second night I stayed I could hear every single movement on a squeaky bed next door. (Yes, some of the beds creak). The sewage system in the building needs improvement - it takes a while for all the water to drain in the shower, at least in our room. These are tiny issues to me, so, generally speaking I am very satisfied with the hostel.

This has to be one of the world's best youth hostels, if not the best! It is in a lovely location close to the city centre, a huge park and restaurants. The building is attractive, inside and out, and the facilities available were excellent. Our double room was spacious, with a wonderful view over Kelvin Grove Park and the university. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Without hesitation, we would stay there again next time we are back in Glasgow.
Because this grand old building has no elevator, you may want to book a room on a lower floor if travelling with lots of luggage.

The staff are so so nice! I loved the Halloween theme and the work they put into it. Very available and friendly and definitely listen and make you feel welcome. They helped me find a quiet secluded place for a business call. Very spacious. Wish I had brought a table tennis partner that is a big plus. The freely available coffee is fantastic.
The kitchen/food hall needed electrical sockets. Kitchen needs a freezer. Getting a full nights' sleep was impossible. Perhaps the arrangement of rooms could be better arranged according to when people arrive/leave. Some of the rooms have too many beds...too crowded and stuffy. Bedrooms IMO too hot.

The building is gorgeous! Inside and out - with period features, high ceilings, ornate staircases - the lot. It is also located in an area with very similar looking buildings from a time when architecture was taken seriously. It faces Kelvingrove Park - another plus for the view from my room as well as for the lovely walks. The staff was amazing - very friendly, relaxed and personable but also very knowledgeable. A pleasure to interact with. Room was clean and warm. Bed was comfy. The facilities had everything I needed and more. The walk into town centre was straightforward. Thumbs up all around.
The tea cups in the reception areas could be bigger, but I borrowed a mug from the kitchen when needed.

The localization was perfect and the hostel looked astonishing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, tho far from looking astonishing, simply a place to get some sleep. Overall; really great choice for that price (~110 pounds for 2 single beds for 2 nights). If I were looking again for a cheap place to stay in Glasgow I would chose that hostel again.
The rooms are not as nice as the shared areas. The beds are narrow and quite short. On 3rd floor, the water pressure wasn't very strong, so I had to spend quite a while rinsing out all the shampoo from my hair. The heaters were insufficient to warm the room to a comfortable 21°C, especially the bathroom, tho it was the wooden windows fault, they were not really great at keeping the freezing cold outside :/. But it shouldn't be an issue unless you're staying there in winter.

This is a youth hostel and not a luxury hotel so expectations have to reflect that. As a hostel it is superb. I had a private, en-suite room which was comfortable and met all my needs. I don't know what the dormitory accommodation is like. I stayed just before Christmas so the hostel, including my room, was very peaceful. I do not know what it would be like when it's busy but the building is spacious and I think it would be able to accommodate a lot of people without feeling crowded. There is a well-equipped kitchen in the basement. The staff were friendly and helpful. The building is in an upmarket part of town and would have been quite grand once. Many of the grand features such as a wooden staircase and a large lounge have been retained. Kelvingrove Park is across the road, Glasgow University, the museum and art gallery, the student quarter centred on Byres Road and bus stops to the city centre are all nearby.
The bed duvet could have been bigger.

I found the hostel easy to locate from Glasgow Central Station. For a first time traveller, I was impressed and relieved. The location also allows seamless access to nearby places like the Glasgow University which I also had to go to. An 8 minute walk was all it took to get me to the university, saving me a few pounds on transport. I also appreciated the information I received from the reception about nearest shops and restaurants, it came in handy as I needed to buy food on my first day. Well, I must say the beds are quite comfortable and I slept so peacefully. The rooms are spacious and clean and there was enough room for all of us sharing the space. My only wish is to get a room in the first floor next time I come. I have physical challenges (Knee problems) and having to go up to the third floor was a huge challenge but manageable. All in all, I loved my time at the Youth Hostel.
The steps...not that I did not like them, I live with a physical challenge which makes steps very uncomfortable for me.

Location was perfect for us! Right up the hill near the big park, with a gorgeous view of the city. Price is very friendly, and they allow dogs which is awesome! We really liked the interior of the hall and staircase as it’s an old building and it looked a bit like a castle. This place is generally friendly, with a proper hostel vibe, and would be perfect for those on a tight budget/travelling in big groups.
We had a double room which was spacious enough, but with old furniture, paint, walls, windows, a bit dusty. It didn’t feel exceptionally clean or fresh, but generally everything was acceptable. We paid for breakfast which was cheap and very basic - just cereals, yogurt and toasts with jam/butter. The dining area felt very dark and just made you wanna eat fast to get out from there :)
