Lovely location and nice views. Staff were amazing, very friendly and fast. Bed was very comfy and room was immaculate.
Bit misleading from the photos and information. We stayed in the hotel and did not have any access to the spa facilities. It did say under the description that we could reserve a hot tub however they were broken when we arrived which was disappointing as it was the whole reason I’d booked this property. The lake in the pictures is also a mile away from the property so we could have a drink there as we had to drive.

We stayed in the beautiful Lake house retreat. It was very peaceful and comfortable and the service was good. Loved the hot tubs outside surrounded by nature.
It’s was £1000 for two nights. We have stayed in places as lovely for half the price. Surprised and disappointed to realise breakfast wasn’t included. We just presumed this because of the price. We were expecting our own private hot tub, didn’t realise it was in front of the house for people to watch through the windows. Despite this, it was very peaceful and felt more private at nighttime. We are gluten and dairy free but as always, chefs forget! However in the end food very was good at the Source and the breakfast delicious.

The service was exceptional
The room has a view from the car park and not the lake and for the price disappointing. The shower would only get warm not hot. The water from the taps wasn’t drinkable.

1.The room and bathroom were excellent, tasteful quality decor, super clean, good adjustable lighting, good bed etc. 2.Helpful,friendly staff 3.Food super, breakfast,Source and Spice Source-food was innovative and tasty, the best for a Michelin 1star,I've had.Enjoyed talking to Ollie Gilpin Spice- Hardwick lamb with a brilliant source-the best Asian plate I've ever had.
1.Lack of sauna or steam rooms or jacuzzi at the main hotel, However I will return and probably stay at The Lake House which would rectify this. 2.I feel that if the service in Source was less hurried and better coordinated you would reap the benefits. The staff were good, but not as good as the food

Room was perfectly comfortable. Dinner at Spice was fun and very good, but the tasting menu (with the wine) was outstanding, matched only by the adroit service-timing of each course was as perfectly judged as the food itself, despite the fact that the restaurant was busy (and the room we were in felt a little bit "overspill")
Whoever at the top decreed the access arrangements to the hotel was having a bad day. Entrance/exit is counter-intuitive (dangerous on a very busy road) and the flow from entrance to bag drop to car park is zany and confusing (as was discreetly confirmed by staff) Signage is beautiful but so small and discreet is totally missable by the new arrival. Major rethink needed!

From the moment we arrived at the Gilpin Hotel, we knew we were in for something special but we never could have anticipated just how incredible our stay would be. A huge thank you to Emma at reception for the warmest of welcomes and for the welcome call just before we arrived, to Rob for looking after us so attentively, and to Tom, the Maltese manager, whose hospitality was second to none. We were staying there because we were doing the Ultra Challenge, and the entire team made sure we were not only looked after but truly pampered. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made us feel genuinely special throughout our time there. We also had the pleasure of dining at Gilpin Spice, and the food was absolutely outstanding a real highlight of the trip. Every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented; a true culinary treat that we won’t soon forget. The spa facilities were just the cherry on top, a perfect place to unwind and recover after the challenge. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our stay so memorable. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend the Gilpin Hotel and all of its incredible staff. We can’t wait to return.

Loved the staff especially the two ladies on reception The hotel was super comfy and clean Loved the welcome box with spa goodies thank you Loved the room coffee machine Loved the location
The restaurants were too fine dinning for me , I have bland taste so had to drive into town to buy fish and chips Other hotels I stay at have the spa with no additional cost so I was put off when I asked if there was a charge for using the facilities The customer car park had lots of pot holes when we arrived on Wednesday that said we did see someone filling them in on Thursday afternoon

On arrival, very welcoming - luggage taken from the car to the room and the car was parked for us. The room was very pleasant, well furnished and with a good selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate plus chilled water. Minibar was well stocked, though we didn't use it. Our stay was for 2 nights and we ate at each of the two restaurants - "Spice" which is an Asian fusion restaurant with a good buzz, and "Source" which is a Michelin-starred restaurant - the food and service were very good and we had a wine pairing which was very well chosen for us. All in all a great stay.
There was nothing that we didn't like.

Very comfortable rooms with lots of space (we booked the junior suite). The bartenders were fantastic and the staff overall very helpful. Loved the lounge area for relaxing in the evening, it felt homely and not at all pretentious. Highly recommend the spa treatments. I left my coats behind and they sent them on immediately. Would come back.
It is an old building so understandably there is no climate control so it gets a little warm. Did not realise the hot tub was outside; some shrubbery would be good to seclude it from view on the right. There was one Venetian blind in our room which let in light, better to match to the blackout ones. Took over an hour to get our bags as they were super busy. Turn down could be a little more thoughtful. However none of this took away from an overall fab experience!
