A great hotel. The restaurant is fantastic as well. The staff seem to be a family. If not, they're a close knit business. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The breakfast is great as well. We recommend this place.

There doesn't seem to be any form of transport into town, around a mile away. Even taxis are reluctant to do the trip as it's not worth their while. Fortunately we were all reasonably healthy & it wasn't much of a burdon, but It would have been nice to jump in a cab after a belly full of pasta & wine in town to get back up the hill to the hotel.

it's a nice comfortable hotel .The restaurant is good, staff lovely.Breakfast good. rooms clean and a decent size. Not all of them have fridges.Pool quite large. Location: a car is needed! it's a good 25 mins walk to the Station down cut throughs in the busy road, Town is longer and very steep uphill climb on the way back. No other restaurants close by , a small shop 3/4 min walk, supermarket 10 mins.

the walk to the station and Town..! although the staff did get us taxis when needed if we go back a car is essential to visit other towns.

Last week, while traveling to Tuscany, my wife and I lost ourselves in the Castelnuovo di Garfagnana surroundings. It was getting dark, and we couldn't find a hotel or even a place to park our car. After getting a tip from a gentle lady nearby La Lanterna Hotel, I decided to book a room for us through Booking.com without even getting more information about the hotel. What a pleasant surprise we had when we finally managed to get to the place! Massimo, who manages the place and met us at the reception is probably one of the nicest guys we had the chance to meet during our time in Italy. Super friendly and extremely polite and attentive. To be 100% honest, all the hotel staff was so nice to us, and the hotel facilities were so great that my wife and I ended up regretting having planned our stay there for only one day. To Massimo and all the La Lanterna staff, our most sincere thanks! Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is the place of birth of my great-great-grandfather, and a lovely small Tuscan city recommended to all those travelers looking for peace, tranquility, and beautiful Italian landscapes. We left the La Lanterna Hotel hoping to return there as soon as possible! Thanks again, Massimo! A presto! 🇮🇹

Hotel with a great pool and good facilities. Comfortable room. Food is not bad either.

The facilities are a little dated (although the pool is an exception to this). I think the hotel was once set in the countryside but has since been swallowed up by the suburbs, so the location is only so-so.

Good breakfast. Location was a little further out of the old town than expected.

The property had pictures showing a pool. I was looking forward to such a facility. When we got there the pool was just a plastic sheet with no water. This was misleading.

Nice swimming pool, good restaurant, reasonable prices. Good localization to visit different places in Toscany.

The staff is lovely and they gave us a lot of good tips about exploring and climbing. The room was big and the temperature was perfect, it was so hot outside and it's the only night we managed to sleep properly! Always appreciate a good mattress :) Great restaurant as well, I'd recommend to have dinner here! Plenty of things to do in the area, it's a great location.
