Location and overall atmosphere
Restricted and exorbitant priced dining options. The only choices were a five course evening meal at circa £65 cost or a bar meal with two main course options which did not change throughout the four night stay. These latter options were a risotto at £15 or a sirloin steak (very good) at £30. The hotel really needs to offer a more budget focused and varied dining option and for this reason I would not stay there again when I next travel up for fishing.

We stayed here for 6 nights in a very comfortable Scottish country house with log fires in lounge and bar. Bedroom was small but had a double aspect overlooking the river and side of the garden. Tea and coffee facilities provided in room and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and various choice of cooked breakfast which was served by waiter. We had evening dinner twice during our stay which was a bit expensive at £65 per head but this was for 3 courses plus coffee/tea. All the food was superb. We would definitely stay here again- it was lovely to have old fashioned waiter service and all the staff were very friendly and helpful
nothing to dislike. We stayed in the main hotel but there are are further rooms in a separate building

Having enjoyed many, albeit infrequent visits over a dozen or so years, I remain joyously amazed at the wonderful consistency of excellence of all aspects of hospitality provided - at such exceptional value for money. Dinner menus remain varied, locally sourced, and appetising. The quality of food has, if possible, improved to a very, very high level. The service remains at the highest standard, delivered with so many of the same staff over this period speaking volumes for the professionalism throughout. Really looking forward to my next scheduled visit. Thank you.
There is nothing not to like, or be charmed by.

The location views & river + woodland walks & we were very lucky with the weather. The restaurant was extremely good value for money & the michelin class. The country house had an Agatha Christie feel without the murders! The staff are friendly, knowlegeable & helpful, its just a great place for a short stay. The room we were in (No 1) was huge & oldy worldly in a good way, the bed was, I think , super king rather than just a double & very comfortable plus great garden view The bathroom was in a tower, never been in a bathroom like it!
We had to leave after 2nights

I could not believe how beautiful the view from our balcony in the riverside room was, absolutely stunning. We went in Autumn and the colours everywhere were breath taking. There was a wedding in the hotel when we stayed so we didn't get to see if the hotel had any other facilities and we weren't able to go to the bar either but we still got breakfast which was delicious and a great selection with great quality food. The staff were very efficient and very professional, maybe lacking in the chit chat that you might find in smaller hotel but it didn't spoil the experience. The room was perfect and so glad I chose riverside. Plenty of parking spaces and the grounds are beautiful.
Only the location was a disappointment as I thought it would be a bit easier to pop into perth city centre but it's about 30 mins drive along dark and twisty country roads which the locals drive on very fast and not courteous atall which made it a bit of an inconvenience to go to the shops or for food elsewhere however now that I know this I would just be better prepared next time if I stayed again.

Dinner was amazing! Such tasty food and well presented. It was a set price which we didn’t realise when asked to book however, we usually eat 3 course meal when out on date nights and the restaurant didn’t disappoint. Staff had all been really lovely too. We travelled with our 2 little dogs and our Riverview room had easy access outside on the ground floor which was very handy. We had also been offered to dine with the dogs in another section of the hotel which we thought was a great offer.
There was nothing I didn’t like. The hotel price matched my expectations. The hotel could ask a higher fee if it underwent a little renovation to bring it back to what it used to be. More so in the riverside hotel section, the main hotel was beautiful with lovely cosy fireplaces.

Lovely hotel, very characteristic. Lovely friendly welcoming staff. Dog friendly. We were in Riverside building so wee bit away from main hotel but not a problem. The beautiful scenery, Autumn is a lovely time for this area. We could see fisherman catching salmon from our room window (and letting them go too 😊) Breakfast was nice, evening meal a little too expensive so we had takeaways. Also able to take our dog to breakfast (designated area) which was nice too.
Only complaint was the TV in room was a basic freeview. If it had been a smart TV we could of streamed programmes. Very glad the weather was nice, so it didn't impact too much on our stay.

The location is superb, overlooking the river Tay. With beautiful gardens and mature trees scattered around. The staff are very good, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast excellent and the evening meal was really nice but a bit pricey for us. Our room was in the Riverside building, which is a short walk from the main hotel. We were on the first floor with a balcony and river view. It was amazing. The room was a little dated, but we had everything that we need and reasonably spacious.
The restaurant prices were too high for us so we only used the restaurant in the evening once during our three nights. There's a very small bar which does offer bar meals at reasonable cost, but we didn't discover that they did bar meals until our last night and we'd already dined in a different hotel.

The room was absolutely beautiful! Not modern decor but I prefer old luxurious style. Bathroom had lots of extras…. Shampoo, body wash etc.. The staff are so friendly which is the main thing… we have stayed in some excellent hotels but staff not so friendly so we will not be returning. The staff in this hotel are lovely, make you feel so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We booked for two nights on our way home from a holiday in Helmsdale but unfortunately we only stayed one night as our dog injured her paw.. the hotel actually offered us a refund which we declined.. we are going to book this hotel again for next year…
Leaving!

Such a relaxed place, tranquil, friendly, well-mannered; gorgeous country setting - no noise at all at night; easy to park; felt safe and secure; guests as pleasant and considerate as the hotel feels - a lot of regulars; really superb food; excellent service, helpful but not intrusive; willingness to create special dishes off the menu for this exacting guest. The dining/breakfast room with its high ceiling and views of the river Tay. The homemade bread and butter. Fabulous bed and linen.
Ferocious heating on all night; had to open windows wide to sleep. Very wasteful. Limited choice of wine by the glass.
