Everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the bed was enormous. The veggie breakfast (avocado and halloumi alongside the usual suspects) was delicious, as were the mushroom pies for dinner. Local beer and whiskey too. Best of all was the beer garden with wonderful views of the moors. Got to be one of the best beer gardens in the world.
I wish it was nearer to Bristol.

First, Belstone is beautiful and it is nearly to do a travel back in time. Nice old buildings and walls, additionally the cemetery and the church behind The Tors give a spooky factor. The accomodation is one of the best we ever had. We stopped in Belstone for 3 nights when we made a round trip in the south of England, visiting 6 accommodations in total. After leaving The Tors we missed it a lot in the days after... It is not only Dicky who treated us very friendly and we had interesting and good conversations (Marmite and Bears, right, Dicky? :-D). He gave us very good hints and tips for some spots to visit in the surrounding area. Fortunately we arrived at the 3rd Tuesday of the month, when an event takes place in the pub with live music of the locals. We have to say that each meal was better than great. The breakfast, the burgers, Fish & Chips, Cheese plate, the Cider, everything was so delicious,
Only the shower cell was a little bit small, but we are two bigger people....

The staff were genuinely warm, friendly and polite and nothing was too much bother. The breakfast had a choice of cereal, orange juice and cooked and all of a very good standard. The evening meals again were of a high quality and reasonably priced. The room, although compact, had a very comfortable bed allowing 3 nights of good sleep. The location in a small village on the edge of Dartmoor is a tranquil setting allowing easy access to the moor for walking.
A small bedside cabinet on the window side of the bed would have been useful.

Limited choice of cereals at breakfast , but othewise very good. The 'full English' is a real plateful. All the food was freshly cooked - and huge portions. The landlord - Dicky, and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly.
The room itself was basic, but comfy. Bear in mind the rooms are directly above the kitchen, so we did notice cooking smells for short time, but these did soon disappear.

On arrival made to feel so welcome from the first interaction. Shown to the room and confined a table a had already been reserved for dinner. Dinner was superb. Pub food at its best. Accompanied by an excellent choice of ales in front of well stocked log fire
The hot water tap in the bathroom took ages to run hot water. A small observation

Location excellent and peaceful. Landlord exceptionally attentive and staff helpful and friendly - local people attractive & interesting. Well kept interior - clean and equipped to the standard one expected of a small Inn. Open fire welcoming am. & pm. Food well cooked and plentiful portions.
We found - for arthritic OAP's - that the stairs were steep but unavoidable - no room for a lift. Again due to size there was no room for a suitcase bench. A towel rail by the basin would be useful and a more silent closing of a heavy door below during catering hours can only assist sleep!

We stayed at The Tors Inn with our 2 Dogs for 7 nights celebrating both of our 60th Birthdays and our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The Tors Inn is a great base to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding area of Devon. We had a double room with a very comfortable King Size bed. The room was very tastefully decorated with En-suite shower and toilet. The large screen smart TV allowed us to use our own accounts to continue watching our box sets for the small amount of time that we spent in the room. As an ex-chef (many years ago) I still love cooking, so can be very critical if food is not up to scratch when I am paying for it. The food at the Tors is good pub grub. – Simple, adequate choice, and all cooked extremely well. The Burgers served from the shed are delicious. The included Full English and alternatives were also very good. The Landlord ‘Dicky’ has lived in Devon Villages from birth, and his tips for where to go and what to do were spot on. – The Tors is well used by keen walkers for food and refreshments. It is on the edge of the moor and several walks can be started from the Tors if staying here. If you want to venture elsewhere for a meal, Dickie’s local knowledge and recommendations were again spot on. It goes without saying that the Tors Inn is very dog and owner friendly. Thank you, Dicky, Erin, Kelly, Chefs and everyone else at The Tors for making our week on The Moor very special!
All good

This was a fantastic pub with friendly and helpful staff. Harriet (Harri) in particular shared her knowledge of the area and advised us on walks and longer hikes in the area, which we really appreciated. Our accommodation was very comfortable and well furnished, and the food was excellent.
