Dinner in the dining room was very good. The coffee cafe was excellent! The Bierhall food was good. Really liked all the cozy seating areas. Liked the game room. My rental was electric so it was really nice having charging stations. The pool, sauna and hot tub looked great but we didn't have time to enjoy them.
Everyone was very courteous and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was someone put away a puzzle I had started. So the next night I started another with a note to please not put up. They didn't put it up but put all the pieces I had carefully colored coded together back into the box. There were four tables and I was only taking up one. And really, I only saw a few people in there the whole time. Just a little thing but you can't put a decent puzzle together in one day.

Rooms, bathrooms and beds very comfortable, clean, very nice.
Would be great if more/different options and at lower prices in the lounge restaurant. More pub food type thing. Also they should reconsider how they manage the flow of people at breakfast - maybe eliminate reservations and just allow first come, first served. Seems to be plenty of room. Lastly bell service was inconsistent - we were not offered help upon arrival. Much better when we left, thanks to Elliot. Also, wish there had been some evening Sound of Music singalongs! 😊

We had the breakfast buffet for 2 of the mornings. Everything was delicious and our server, Sully, was very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and with so many choices, it was hard to choose! We did the brewery tour and the sugar mill tour, learning a lot about the history of the property, expansions, and the work that goes on behind the scenes. We also did the wine tasting, which was a great add on. Both Sam and Kristina Von Trapp were very present (Sam did our brewery tour, Kristina joined the wine tasting), making guests feel at home. Farmer Poacher is such an amazing person to take a tour with (we took the cow tour with him last year, this year the sugar mill), sharing wonderful stories about so many aspects of the day-to-day goings on, and he does plenty! Looking forward to going back next year!
Cannot think of anything we would change.

WE enjoyed breakfast and Victor was an excellent waiter. Both the continental and hot breakfast was delicious.
At check in the young lady stated "I need to see your driving license?" I suggested to her it would sound much better to say "May I see your driving License. It sounds more invitational and respectful to the customer. She followed, " I need to see your License. Sometimes there is such a resistance to finding more appropriate ways to saying what we need to say. For years I worked at a Five Star Hotel, and I appreciated any feedback I received. The Lodge is such a beautiful place and our experience was delightful from Warren at dinner to the family history.

The property was simply gorgeous My husband and I were here for our wedding anniversary. I loved the flowers and the Austrian feel. It really felt like you your in Europe. The rooms were outstanding and I like the fact that u could go out to the balcony and look at the excellent view of the mountains like your actually in the Alps. The story of the Von Trapps is through out the halls of each floor. Omg !!! Then there was the awesome Bierhall next store. If you love the Von Trapps story then u will need to visit the family lodge. There is soo much to see and do at the resort. With 2500 acres there is no need to leave the property. Anyone that is thinking about this place …. You need to go ! You will be in love 💕
Absolutely nothing. I hated to leave

I love the buffet breakfast. I feel like I am in Europe. The blueberry muffins were particularly good. In the evening, we loved the piano music in the dinning room. I loved the decor of the room. The beds were comfortable. You can request a viewing of the Sound of Music or watch at 7pm on Thursdays. With tired 6 and 8 year old, we needed an earlier viewing of this much loved movie. The staff was accommodating.
Wish we had more time to swim, snow shoe, make a snow man, etc on the grounds... The room needed a little repair in the drywall of the bathroom. I would have liked more room cleaning such as replacing the glasses each day. One in my party had a cold so I wanted to make sure we did not accidentally drink from that glass or that she got sick again as the cold passed.

The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the view outside and the fact that our 4th floor room, built into the hill was ground level with a patio in the back. We specifically came to stay at the von Trapp Family Lodge and we look forward to a return visit. We loved the cookies and tea and the tours!
The dining options were limited when our tours ended at 2pm. Everyone was very friendly except the dining room and lounge staff. We had the last reservation of the night and our waiter really wanted us to hurry up and leave. The food was good but overcooked. We were disappointed about the lack of snow but that was true for all of Vermont.

Thing to remember is this is a resort with a european feel, not just a hotel to lay your head down for the night. If you are looking for a just a clean bed and continental breakfast this may not be your cup of tea. The facility is big, yet has a coziness to it. We loved the multiple small gathering rooms and nooks spread about the building with shelves filed with books, board games and puzzles. The property is huge, plenty of places to wander but also lots of hosted happenings. Loved the beer hall...they do a maple themed beer every year and it is very good. Staff is exceptional. they all seem to love working there. Highly recommend as a get away place.
Im an early riser and could not find coffee at 6:30 am as I didnt want to wake up people in the room nor was they gym open, that's it that's my quibble. is it pricey compared to a hotel? Sure...but. as I said It is a resort so well worth it if you are willing to indulge in all the offerings..

Location near cross country ski school and rental Friendly staff at restaurant Direct access from our room to the snow, that was fun for our kids
Quality and variety of food We were not offered help with luggage when we arrived for check in, and we had plenty Need to always book breakfast and dinners. If not, they told us fully booked even if the dining room was half empty Property is very nice but a bit outdated

Room was spacious and very clean. The views were amazing from the rooms. Staff was wonderful, everyone is very friendly/helpful and in a good mood. The tours offered were also very nice and informative. Wish I would have had more time to do everything available there. The dinners at the lodge were also very nice, as was the brunch.
The Kaffeehaus is disappointing, do not waste your money on food (the coffee is good). The last few times we have eaten there, the quality of the food is not the greatest. We went for breakfast, the Applestrudel you get served is cold, you need to ask to warm it up, and they use a microwave making it lukewarm and soggy. The breakfast sandwiches are all pre-made and sitting in a warmer wrapped in aluminum, you end up with a soggy bread, at $10 it is not worth it.
