We had a beautiful clean comfortable room with a four poster bed which we loved. Everything was spotless in bathroom and bedroom. The dinner was amazing as my husband is vegetarian he normally finds it’s difficult to get nice food. He thoroughly enjoyed the Halloumi burger. The food is exceptional. We had a late drink at the bar and all the staff were so lovely and helpful. We loved the breakfast selection so tasty and really good variety to choose from. We left our car parked in the car park in front of the hotel and took taxi’s, our car was perfectly safe. Overall we would definitely come back to stay at Scholars.

Polite wait staff, delicious food

A few times there was an issue with a waitress that did not understand English sufficiently. Errors were corrected but it may be better to have English language learners in roles that do not require speaking and understanding English. Secondly, I received many email/texts asking to "check in" that turned out to be spam trying to get my personal information. That is just informational - I know the hotel was not involved in that.

Breakfast was good, a la carte selection from menu. Only main courses on offer. No fruit, cereals, patisserie etc Restaurant and bar very good with excellent service good food and good wine selection.

Our room was small (the hotel staff prefer the word “cosy”. There was a four-poster bed which filled up most of the space. Noise from the kitchen, no chairs provided, windows were stained glass and opaque which was probably just as well as they looked onto an interior courtyard. Lighting in the shower room inadequate, could have done with a light above the who.

The outdoor patio garden and dining is perfect. This is a must see property and at least try a meal if you can’t stay overnight. The location is within walking distance of the bus and train station or hop a quick cab. There are many historic sites also walkable areas what a great destination city! We loved it and multiple shops and restaurants and pubs to experience we highly recommend Drogheda and Scholars the locals are enchanting!

Need an extra for bathtub it’s a climb. That being said I had the best soak I appreciate a tub!

Room clean. Bedding, towels and toiletries were very good. Service was exceptional from every member of staff we came across. Tea and coffee on demand was fantastic and very quick service. Food in bar was very good and although I didn't have breakfast it looked amazing.

Room size was very small. I can appreciate it was a convent and it's probably a listed building so there is not a lot that can be done. It wouldn't stop me from staying again as everything else was great.

Coming from the other side of the Channel, it's surprisingly pleasant to have the impression of stepping back in time to the 19th century. A plush, hushed, subdued hotel. Smiling, very professional welcome. Good-sized room, bathroom where nothing is missing, impeccable bedding. The restaurant has an excellent menu and the service is attentive and impeccable. Scholars Townhouse Hotel is a lovely listed property. The staff are excellent, and the period decor is beautiful and elegant. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was powerful. It is also located within walking distance of many shops and restaurants, but situated just outside of the centre, so it is very quiet and peaceful.

Loved the bathroom it was so clean and the bed was more than comfortably. Not to over exaggerate too much but it felt like sleeping on a cloud.

There's wasn't much i didn't like at all. Though the room did get so warm at night even with the windows open and I wasn't sure if there was no A/C or i just couldn't find it given it was the middle of night.

The room was very quiet and had beautifully finished wood panelling and a window we could open. The bed was very comfortable. We slept really well. The shower was spacious. The dining room looked beautiful, although we did not stay for breakfast.

No tea or coffee in the room. It had to be ordered from the breakfast room.

Staff were very friendly, room was clean and well keep. Food and drink very well done. You could see staff had pride in there job and wanted to deliver a good experience.

There was no kittle in the room to allow customer boil water, the room we purchased was advertised on booking.com as having a kittle. When a staff member was questioned the excuse given was “ Kittles were removed from rooms due to COVID-19 restrictions” I personally felt embarrassed for the chap. But he gave the spiel as if he believed in it to be fair.
