The location is idyllic, and our room looked out onto the harbour. The bed was very comfortable, and the staff were exemplary. We enjoyed staying in the hotel, which looks like it was built in the 1930's. The food was delicious, and it was a very comfortable hotelto stay in.
The price, of over £200 for a couple per night, was pretty steep for a hotel with not many facilities. Our room (22) was spacious, but the bathroom lacked a shower curtain, so we had to crouch on the bath to take a shower, to avoid turning the bathroom into a swamp. There was no real heating in the bathroom, either, so it was quite cold. The bar closed at 10:45, which I thought was very early. Even the pub (sharing the same staff and facilities) closed early on Saturday night.

You cannot beat the location of the Crinan Hotel right on the water across from Duntrune Castle at the Crinan Canal. The scenery is spectacular. The restaurant is wonderful for lunch or dinner and the included breakfast is delicious. The building is old , but lovely. Our room was comfortable and well outfitted with incredible views out across the water. We would definitely stay again !

When we were shown into our room the view literally took my breath away! The view across the sound of Jura was so amazing that we slept with the curtains open and woke with the sunrise. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day and the seafood in the hotel restaurant and bar was super fresh, straight from the boat - the best we have had. Some people have been critical of the dated bathrooms and decor but we loved it and it is what makes this hotel so unique, quirky and for those reasons very special. We will definitely be going back soon!

The location is fantastic and our room overlooked the canal and the sound. It was comfortable and quaintly decorated fitting the period of the hotel. Food served way good.
The owners gave a rather unfriendly impression and there was no cosy, family hotel atmosphere as a result. We were rather afraid to use the ancient lift in the hotel so much so that we just sent our luggage up in it and walked up the 2 flights - it really needs to be modernized.

The location was superb, the owner and staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was excellent in every way. Great views from our room across the sea loch. We loved watching the yachts going through the locks and we also cycled the full length of the canal and other places of interest. Delicious home baking in the Coffee Shop too!
I would describe the hotel as 'shabby chic' but it will need some refurbishment in the future.

A wonderful throwback hotel. The lounges were very comfortable and great places to spend the evening, relaxing after dinner. Staff were all super attentive, helpful and friendly. The view from our room was simply stunning; I can well understand how it has inspired artists to paint!! Finally, we had an issue with our bill, which we didn't pick up at the time. However, upon contacting the hotel we received a prompt and highly satisfactory response and the matter was resolved in a very timely manner. Thank you to all at the Crinan Hotel and we sincerely hope to return at some point in the future.
Nothing, we had a wonderful stay and hope to return at some point in the future.

The amazing views, comfortable rooms and delicious food. Every member of staff were friendly and professional and nothing was to much trouble. Lovely stroll along the canal path and back to a cute wee pub attached to the hotel.
Bathroom needed spruced up a wee bit one of our party had a shower not attached to the wall not so handy but really there was nothing much to dislike.

Spectacular location and views, beside a historic and still well used canal. Unexpectedly tranquil, old-world standard of service and comfort, informal. Friendly staff who clearly enjoy their role. The abundance of the owner’s art works from this celebrated local artist.
Some would say slightly antiquated facilities though this is actually part of its charm.

Superb location. Friendly staff. Dogs are welcome and allowed in most areas. Lovely that the walls are adorned with the owners art and the gallery on the 3rd floor is worth a look. Nice comfy bed and great views. We ate in the seafood bar and had the halibut and ribeye steak which were both delicious. TIP We did the Crinan wood walk, but be aware that it's not easy and wouldn’t advise taking children or anyone with mobility issues. on it. Great views though.
It's a bit pricey. The bath felt like it had a film on it. The door from the steep stair to the first floor is heavy and awkward when carrying luggage. Although to be fair there is a wee lift
