The room was very good with an uninterrupted sea view. Well equipped, well appointed and good size. The breakfast was very good and the staff were obliging, professional and friendly.
My room, although supposedly the best in the hotel was on the first floor directly over the lounge. On the second night, a live band performed, very loudly until 10.30 p.m. It made sleep impossible. Future guests, be aware.

Relaxed atmosphere, good sized car park, Hotel is on the sea front , but also close to the town centre. Restaurant evening meal and breakfast excellent. lovely comfortable double bed, but a bit big for size of room!
The room was too hot and was unable to regulate the heat. didn’t like having to book a slot to swim, on a holiday you don’t want to be tied to time!

The staff are outstanding always at this hotel, especially in the dining room: courteous, helpful and sensitive. The dinner menu (four courses for about £22) is excellent, and the food beautifully prepared. The hotel has a lovely lounge, and a fascinating history (the house belonged to Washington Singer, son of Isaac, who invented the sewing machine!)
The worst thing this time was that the radiator in my room did not work, and could not be mended while I was there. There was a convector heater there in the wardrobe....as if they knew the radiator could not be trusted! Also, the walls in my room (60) were paper thin, and the people next door noisy until late at night. The hotel needs to spread its clients out if at all possible: there are plenty of rooms!

Helpful staff. We had a leak in the bathroom toilet, so asked to move rooms. Our problem was dealt with straight away and we were in a new room within the hour.
We requested a sea view on booking, but were allocated a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. No mention of our request and not being able to meet it when we booked in. An acknowledgement and simple apology from the receptionist would have been appreciated, so could have done better here. I enjoyed a swim in the pool, but the jacuzzi water was the same temperature as the pool, so disappointing and not as enjoyable as it could have been. I expect this is due to pool design. Adapting the current set up or having a separate heated jacuzzi would make the experience much better.

The staff, especially receptionists and waiters/waitresses, were excellent and efficient. The value was also very good at around £62 per night for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast (Half Board), albeit January, together with the room being made up each day. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. For example, I was finding the lighting in room 65 not nearly bright enough on one side of the room., and a member of staff purchased a desk light for me (not a at all expensive, but very helpful). Dinner was a 4 course meal each night (including a sorbet), and I never had a poor meal, from rather lacking in quantity apart from 'fan of melon', which was small in size, rather than poor quality. Good parking provision. Good sea views from the front bedrooms. A light lunch was usually good, but on the expensive side. There was also an electric heater, in addition to a very low level and inefficient radiator, and the electric heater was needed in January. Service at all meals was good. There are two elevators at the hotel.
The room was a bit of an odd shape, and slightly lacking in space had there been two guests (I was a solo guest). There was only one comfortable chair, but both a circular table and a desk (rather than dressing table) were in the room. There was no luggage rack, and if you had to place the case on the floor, I would have found it difficult (I used the spare bedside table). The breakfast was not as good a quality as the evening meal, and perhaps better quality goods could have been used, but there was a good selection of different foods.

Staff superb. Facilities excellent. Cleanliness excellent. Nothing too much trouble. Surprised only 3 stars considering animals allowed I would expect a few marks but nothing at all that. Absolutely recommend especially for people with pets
Bought breakfast one morning. Not a great breakfast in my opinion. I appreciate can't go to a restaurant because of a dog but it would have been nice to know we had access to toast, orange, cereal etc. Served the full English but not great in my opinion. Breakfast would have been worth it if we were told we had access to all the facilities. I felt embarrassed going to the restaurant to get toast.

I couldn't fault the hotel at all. It has a little old fashioned quirkiness and I liked that. The staff were absolutely brilliant, always friendly and helpful. I stayed with my 4 year old Grandson and everyone went over and above to make him feel comfortable especially Paul in the breakfast room! The room was huge ( unlike the modern hotels) with panoramic sea views. The en-suite was a proper big bathroom. The pool was a decent size, warm and clean but local elderly people were in there and I felt uncomfortable as I felt I had to try and keep my grandson quiet and to not mess around and when we were in the changing rooms an elderly lady came out of a cubicle absolutely naked ( she would have known we were there ) something a 4 year old should never see, safe to say I didn't take him in there again. But I would most definitely stay at the Palace Hotel again.
