We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Ukiyoe Ryokan Osaka! Ozaki was the best host we’ve ever come across on our travels. Ozaki gave us some lovely gifts on our arrival, and took the time to do a photoshoot with our choice of kimonos and samurai warrior costumes that we chose from his collection. Ozaki’s wife kindly edited the photos for us, and provided us with the images as a gift. Our room had very comfortable beds and pillows, and was very peaceful, with not a sound heard from the rooms in other floors (there was a lift, so no problem getting heavy suitcases up to other floors). The room was spacious with separate seating area, kitchen, private laundry and bathroom, with separate WC. The washer/dryer came in particularly handy for us. Ozaki provided a good range of coffees, teas and soup bases. We spent a day in Nara, and Ozaki was able to give us a lot of suggestions of what to do and see there, as that is where he is from (I highly recommend a visit, it was a highlight of our trip, Todai-Ji was impressive, and the parks were beautiful, especially with the deer wandering around, but don’t carry anything in your hands or they’ll try to eat it, and we saw one lady get butted in the behind).

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like!

The owner was extremely helpful, even well before our arrival — for example, by giving us advice about nearby restaurants. He took the time to explain every aspect of the apartment, from the light switches to making tea. You get the full ryokan experience, with low beds and a traditional table. He even offered a photo session with samurai armor and kimono dressing. Two pieces of advice: - These are ryokan-style apartments, not a hotel. There’s nothing that distinguishes the building from a regular residential one, but the given address is correct. It's important to inform the owner of your arrival time in advance so he can be there to greet you. He is very responsive and flexible. - The nearby subway station is large. It’s wise to pay attention to the entrance number suggested by Google Maps; otherwise, you may spend quite some time getting to the right platform, especially if you're carrying luggage up and down stairs.

We travelled through Japan for a month as a family of 5 (2 adults, and 3 teenagers). This accommodation was a stand-out. Ozaki, our host, went above and beyond to help us feel welcome and comfortable. He welcomed us to the property and showed us how everything worked, was in contact with us regularly, provided local recommendations (which were fantastic) and made our visit to Osaka incredibly memorable (he also gave us recommendations for Nara, where he grew up!) It was also much more spacious than other accommodation we'd had in Japan. And it's also in such a great location, with easy access on foot and metro to many Osaka highlights. We loved it.

5-Star Ryokan Experience in Osaka – A Hidden Gem of Kindness and Comfort Staying at this ryokan in Osaka was one of the most heartwarming and memorable experiences of our entire trip to Japan. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The host went above and beyond in every way — helping us with local recommendations, and making sure we were always comfortable and cared for. The rooms were spotless and filled with that unique blend of traditional charm and subtle luxury: tatami mats, futons that felt like clouds, the costumes photo shooting was a memorable experience too. What truly made this stay unforgettable was the kindness of the host. Their genuine warmth, attentiveness, and effortless hospitality created a sense of peace and connection that is rare to find. It felt like more than just a place to sleep — it felt like a home away from home. If you’re looking for an authentic, serene, and truly heartfelt experience in Osaka, this ryokan is a treasure not to be missed. We left with full hearts and a deep gratitude for such a beautiful encounter.

Maybe the lack of a view but hey that’s downtown Osaka, can’t have all

My husband and I were a little apprehensive regarding staying at a Ryokan for the first time. We could not have imagined a more awesome experience! We were greeted by Ozaki (the owner) who was such a kind humble man. Even though we’ll arrive late in the evening he Proudly showed us through apartment and even greeted us with small gifts. The apartment was very comfy, immaculate with beautiful, traditional Japanese decor and all the conveniences that one would need to enjoy their stay. The location was central and metro right around the corner. Ozaki made our stay even more special by arranging a photo shoot in which we wore samurai and kimono garments from his private collection. The experience we had staying at Osaka Ukiyoe Ryokan was truly one of our favorite Japanese stays. We highly recommend staying there.

There was really nothing we did not like aboutthe stay. As I said, the apartment was immaculate, beautifully detailed with Japanese decor, safe and a pleasure to stay

A family party of 3(with our adult daughter). Our daughter visited Osaka 20 months ago. We all agree to service from his heart and will go extra thousand miles for his guest. 2. home away from home. 3. Ozaki San helped us reserve a restaurant in our list(usually a long waiting list) . We arrived in Japan during golden week & Expo in Osaka We stayed at world luxury hotels before, every service will have add on. He is full of local knowledge of Osaka and Nara- you will not be disappointed. I booked this place based on reviews, and feeling 110%. happy with this accommodation.

weather, on our last day it was raining, good job he took us to short cut to avoid to getting too wet

Host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. He treated us like his friends/family and would go out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We came with a 8 month old baby and he welcomed us with little thoughtful gifts ( for us and the baby) to make our stay comfortable and memorable. We were unfortunately slightly sick when we arrived in Osaka and he made us feel very safe and offered us help. Beautiful Japanese style and spacious room with detailed and thoughtful amenities. Immaculately clean. Very close to subway and only two stops away from the bustly Namba station. Many convenient stores nearby. Washing machine combined with a dryer was so useful!

Everything. From the moment our booking was confirmed, we received a very warm welcoming message. We arrived at the property late in the afternoon by taxi from Shin-Osaka Station that was arranged by Ozaki as we requested due to our large luggages. I was not sure how easy it would be to book one from the station. We were greeted with such big welcoming smile. We were shown to our exceptionally beautiful traditional Japanese style room. He explained in detail how everything in the room worked. On our traditional Japanese Kotatsu table were thoughtful presents. You could tell that Ozaki and his wife put so much effort in choosing the presents for their guests. We are very thankful and appreciate every single present that was given. There was lots of instant coffee, drip coffee, tea and bottled water for us. The washer and dryer in our bathroom was very good and convenient. We all miss our heated toilet seat and bidet 😊. We all loved sleeping on our very comfortable heated tatami floor with a futton for each. The art work, and details on the room furniture are all amazing. Everyday, we received a personal message asking if we needed any assistance. Even though it was our first time in Japan, we truly felt at home. Once you locate the hotel, everything is accessible and easy to find. Everything you need is there. We wanted to enjoy Osaka and did not want to spend too much time travelling back and forth. Aside from a day trip to Kyoto, we did not feel the need to go anywhere else. There are restaurants, Starbucks, convenience store, train station(with elevator) within short walking distance. Dotonbori and other attractions are a few minutes train ride. We usually spent hours of the day out and about then came back to rest an hour or so before dinner. I have mobility issues, therefore it is always harder for me to be walking, but with the property being so close to everything, it did not break the wallet much to take an Uber for 5 passengers.

Absolutely nothing to dislike

Ozaki is the most wonderful host one can imagine. He treated us as friends from the start, showing us all the details of the Ryokan to help us get a better understanding of being in Japan, since we were first time visitors. He helped us with reservations at an amazing Oden restaurant, he helped with navigating us toward some of the most interesting parts of Osaka, and he set up an fantastic photo shoot session with his big collection of Samurai yoiri and kimonos. The Ryokan was old fashioned and still hand modern amenities, e.g., washer/dryer, coffee, microwave. The location was also ideal for us--so close to wonderful food choices and the Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, known for being Japan's longest covered shopping arcade, stretching 2.6 kilometers. Close to the M Metro line as well. We will be back.

We were happy with everything. Ozaki's Ryokan Ukiyoe was above and beyond.

Everything exceeded our expectation. - The owner Ozaki and Kumiko are the most friendly and welcoming people I have met in my life. They really made everything amazing and unforgettable. - The location is very convenient. It is just 1 min from a subway station, super walkable, safe, close to restaurants and other venues. If take a taxi(instead of Uber) and do not speak Japanese, saving the address in Japanese and showing the Japanese address to taxi driver would be helpful. Google Maps does not give you the Japanese address, and many taxi drivers don't understand the English address. - The beds are very comfortable. Ozaki really put a lot of thought into making the bed as comfortable as possible. Ask him about the story! - The amenities are great! Ozaki provided everything he could to make our stay comfortable. He gave us a very detailed tour of all the amenities at the ryokan. - The culture here! Not only the room felt like a Japanese home, Ozaki sent us off with a Kiribi ceremony. The photo shoot session is the best! It really made a very unique experience. It was absolutely eye opening to wear the Samurai armor and the Irouchikake for photos.
