The staff was super helpful and warm - they went above and beyond to make us feel right at home! They gave us fabulous recommendations for places to eat out, as well as great tips on how to get around and what to see. The bed was really comfy, and they were very caring to our dog who stayed there with us. The breakfast was also a highlight with all the fresh fruit and regional dishes. The colonial-style architecture made the place feel particularly special, making this a memorable anniversary trip!

Being an older building, there was a rather noticeable musty smell of mold pretty much all around the building - so if you are highly allergic to mold like we are, you might want to consider packing some antihistamines.

A place with a lot of personality. We loved the concept of colonial style, it was comfortable and nicely decorated. The room was big. The staff was super nice and helpful!

The location is good as you are really at the heart of the Pelouhrino plaza but it is nice during the day and not really at night. If you want to go out at night maybe this area is not the best.

This incredibly charming boutique hotel is located inside 2 adjacent mansions dating to the 17th and 18th Centuries, remnants of the Portuguese era. The hotel has 17 rooms, and our room (and all the rooms in the front of the hotel) overlooks the plaza and the Baroque Church of São Francisco (rebuilt in 1686). Each room is named for a place colonized by the Portuguese. The rooms and the whole hotel are renovated to preserve their original spirit. Our room (Mozambique) was very large with a queen-sized bed, 10-foot high ceilings and a large shower. The bed and the linens on it were very comfortable. The hotel has several courtyards, indoor seating areas and a plunge pool. Breakfast, which is included, was very good. This hotel is very reasonable for the quality it offers and is very close to perfect. The location is excellent if you are planning to explore the old part of the city of Salvador—almost everything is within walking distance. The hotel employees are all very helpful and friendly (they also speak English).

The hotel is full of personality, it is a very unique place!! The location is great, in the middle of the historic centre. The room is spacious and really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I asked for suggestions for restaurants and what to do to and the receptionists were really nice and helpful. I will definitely stay there again next time!!

Once you step out of the hotel during late night hours( Pelourinho area- historic center) not the safest, and you have to take care of your surroundings and yourself No room service for food or coffee after certain timings and hours

*Beautiful, period rooms with plenty of space and character. *Large bathroom with fresh towels daily. *Everything was exceptionally clean. *Air con was quiet and effective. *Reasonably priced minibar. *Comfortable bed with quality bedding. *Friendly staff who spoke good English (amongst other languages). *Breakfast was simple, but well executed and served in the lovely courtyard. *Central location right in the heart of the old town. We felt safe enough as long as you use common sense.

*Due to the location, rooms can be a tad noisy, but we expected that. *The pool is very much a plunge pool for a quick cool off

Located diagonally next to “Igreja e Convento São Franciso”, one of the most magnificent churches in Brazil, in historic center “Pelourinho” of Salvador. The room has 4-meter-high ceiling with furniture of antique style, wooden floor, good air conditioning, elevator equipped. A Jewish bath (mikvé) dated back to 1680 was discovered in this house during the renovation in 2005. Very good personalized breakfast including local bread served in a small patio with very kind attention.

Illumination of room was very dark in general, but especially in wardrobe area, I couldn't see my clothes very well (room “Ceuta”). No electricity sockets were available for battery charging. I had to disconnect lamps to connect my iPhone, Camera, PC, Shaver and Tooth Cleaner. I didn’t like and didn’t do on-line check-in. This may be convenient for the reception but not for customers. I don't know why such a small hotel with 10 rooms or so needs pre-check-in. It was annoying to answer my profession, which was obligatory. Please DO NOT ask about customer's profession.

wonderfully charming in its decoration in keeping with its 15th century origin. wondering Art Deco comforts. the staff were exceptional & couldn’t do more to help, especially those at breakfast who soon learned what we needed & liked. the staff were so warming & loving to our 6 month old baby & went out of their way to make us happy

needed an on site restaurant in the evening. a kettle in the room also for making hot drinks.

Excellent hotel, well located besides the Gold Church, great staff, excellent breakfast, lots of history in the hotel, and we stayed in a room with a bed from a Marajó, really amazing. The reception team helped us with tips and places to go and have dinner.

This is a beautiful hotel in one of the most important historical areas of the city. The premises are beautiful and with small details to be discovered. I enjoy every second of my time there.

Due to its location, it can be a bit noisy, but you get used to it quickly when you realize that this is Bahia!
