This place was an amazing find! I was so happy to have found it (thanks Booking.com). I have never heard of Castellina in Chianti -- and I think that is part of the charm...not a lot of tourists. It is located in the Chianti region, and it is a beautiful drive to get to this magical place. I have the sense that Castellina in Chianti is a history-filled hideaway village that Italians in the know will go to for a weekend getaway. The village is very small and walkable and the storefronts and restaurants are filled with lovely people. The hotel is owned by a local Italian family and the young woman at the front desk was beyond helpful and sweet -- she let me choose the "town view" room or, for a little extra, the "country-side" room by showing me both options first -- I chose the countryside! The room was amazingly spacious and had a marble bathroom, air conditioning, and an incredible view. The hotel also has a little secret spa that I had all to myself. The breakfast was excellent and I appreciated that there was an elevator so I didn't have to lug my suitcase up the stairs. There is a large pool that I didn't take the time to go visit, but it looks wonderful. I also appreciated that there is private parking nearby, behind a gate, that I parked my car. Truly, I felt like I was really spoiling myself by staying at this place -- though the price of the room was reasonable. I was traveling alone but felt safe at the hotel and wandering the village. This is a great place and I'd like to revisit it some time with family. I highly recommend!

The room size was very good. Excellent breakfast. Great cutomer service. The location, close to the high street and restaurants but very peaceful for most of the day. Excellent views.

The initial parking was unnecessarily stressful. The instructions were a little complicated. A simple map directing clients to the car park entrance would have been very helpful. I understand why older clients may find it a challenge. A minor point but the table positioned immediately on the terrace as you exit the hotel onto the balcony is in the way. When it's occupied, it is inconvenient to pass and feels a little intrusive for those enjoying a drink or a meal.

Our room was on the first floor. Off the elevator there were still two small sets of steps to get to the room. Our room was large and overlooked the street below. Since traffic is only allowed on the street for an hour in the morning and afternoon, there was no noise. The room had a closet, safe and mini fridge. Bathroom had tub, shower and bidet. There was a spa in the basement with steam room, sauna and hot tub which I took advantage of every afternoon. The included breakfasts were fantastic. Everything you could possibly want. We ate dinner one night at the motel and it was very good. There were two restaurants across the street and multiple places to eat within easy walking distance. Also, lots of shops to explore. There is a pool which was not open when we were there.

Parking is in a private gated lot and is located behind the facility and down stairs and is a bit of a walk. Too far to carry luggage which is why the road is open for vehicles for a while in the morning and afternoon.

Loved our stay here! Absolutely beautiful properly set on the edge of Castellina. You have the buzz of the small town but also the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside. The perfect blend for a relaxing but entertaining trip with unmatched food and wine.

A coffee machine in the room would be great! Also a little more variety with breakfast, especially some more savoury options would make it perfect.

The staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. The room was neat and clean. The hotel was peaceful and quiet. The poolside looked nice (it was a bit cold to swim because of the weather). The breakfast was great! The hotel's location is convenient if you want to go on short day trips to popular tourist destinations in Tuscany.

The air conditioning in the room made a lot of noise if on the highest setting. The road to the hotel's parking is rather steep, so be careful not to scratch your car.

The location, breakfast and swimming pool is fulfill with the Hospitality, kindness, helpful and very good heart of every single member from the palazzo, the restaurant and the shop!! From the bottom of my heart, I would say big thank you for every single member of the palazzo who make our stay really feels like home. I've been traveling around the world, I have been traveling in Chianti for about 23 years and I have only few places that I would called "home", as you. We stay 5 nights in this beautiful palazzo Squarcialupi and I would say please keep this beautiful wonderful every member you have. I will for sure will always come back to this place in the future and I will tell the whole world how wonderful you are. Not only that Chianti has stolen my heart for 23 years, but the member of Palazzo Squarcialupi for sure has stolen my heart and learned me very good things in life, that is the reason I called you home. Once again, thank you.

Location, friendly helpful staff in small quaint town. The swimming pool was perfect for a dip after long day of touring. Loved all the rose bushes and jasmine flowers. Had my best Campari Spritz there on balcony after a week of travel thru Italy! Parking was bonus. Great breakfast with a spectaculiar view.

This was my second time at this hotel and I will absolutely be back again. The view off the back balcony is incredible. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. We love the walkability of the area - dinner, some shopping, and a nice treat.

The signage from the parking lot to the back entrance needs improvement. There was one poorly placed sign and walking through that area for the first time, in the fog, at night, was confusing to say the least.

Welcome on arrival and all staff interaction throughout our stay was friendly and very helpful. Cocktails in the bar (negroni and approx spritz) were fabulous. The shower was great and there was plenty of hot water.

The room was light and airy but despite being assured of a city view, in fact we were disappointed to find we had no view at all; the windows either looked out onto a very small roof top which had planters of flowers on it or were so high up in the wall, we would have needed a ladder to see out. The location of the kettle was not near a plug.

Center of a very nice town to relax and visit the Tuscan Hill Towns and Chianti wine region. The staff was very helpful in all areas and well connected with the businesses in this very pleasant town.

Nothing, BUT pay close attention to the directions they send to be able to drive and park at the property! The old city is only open to vehicles during very narrow windows each day.
