The staff were so friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious, very clean and nicely decorated and everything was in a good state of repair. We booked into the restaurant for our evening meal and the food was excellent, as was the service. Breakfast in the morning was also excellent and a good variety of cereals, fruit, juices, hot food and the option to order from the kitchen. There is also an ample sized car park.

We couldn't find anything not to like.

The outside of the Hotel was a bit deceiving it looked just like any other 3 star hotel BUT when you walk inside it is very very welcoming, cosy, clean, comfortable, spaceous, and beautifully decorated in traditional Scottish style. Our beds were very comfortable we all slept very well, no noise no disturbance very friendly housekeepers but what we loved the most was the breakfast and the friendly helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was more than I expected and you were full up by the time you finished, very clean very good quality food, any amount of options. The staff there could not do enough for us they worked so hard (we were at a wedding) and they still were kind and helpful right into the night having served us food early that same day I just cannot fault the staff and want to thank them for their hospitality. We loved Montrose too and we would love to come back, it's a perfect venue for a wedding, the wedding venue looked so cute and had doors that lead put onto a beautifully kept garden (Well done gardeners), the receptionist were super helpful always friendly, I highly recommend this hotel I would go as far to say it was the best hotel experience we as a family have ever had and I think it's because it's very down to earth, family orientated and non pretentious, love it.

Nothing

The room size was adequate, We attended a friends golden wedding . the meal was exceptional, very well presented,plenty of choice, Breakfast was again plentiful, buffet filled up repeatably ensuring everybody had a full plate etc. Above all the staff were so hospitable and the Hotel management should be proud of them.,

Nothing really except disturbences from other guests when they arrived from function elsewhere.

The room was very comfortable with all the things we need for a good stay. Dinner was excellent as was our breakfast which set us up well for our long journey home. a big Thank You to the friendly helpful staff who catered for us very well!

The shower could have been easier to work and it took an long time for hot water to come throught but hey, we had a wonderful stay

In a nice area. Very clean throughout with tasteful decor. Bar and restaurant very comfortable and well laid out.

Our view from room 342 was to the rear of the property. Oh dear what an absolute mess. The large waste bins were uncovered and rubbish spilled from them. The Gulls and Magpies had easy access resulting in the rubbish being strewn around. They were not exactly quiet either!

Clean and tidy fabulous breakfast

Bathroom was looking tired and bath very narrow and slippy. Shower was useless luckily I did not have to wash my hair! Mirror over the toilet so had to kneel on it to put my makeup on. It was ok for my husband to shave with . Safety wise we over looked the fire escape which looked rusty and very unsafe.

Lovely big room with comfy bed and an excellent breakfast. The staff were particularly helpful and the receptionist Susie needs a special mention for ensuring we were well cared for (my husband has advanced Parkinson's).

The en-suite could do with fresh decor, although there's a bath, lovely big handbasin and enough room to move!

Good location and comfortable

Most of the hotel had been refurbished and my room had been too apart from the Bathroom windows which were old and made the bathroom cold . There was a noticeable change in temperature in the hotel as you go into the second floor .

Breakfast excellent as was dinner and bar facilities. Booked superior room which was very spacious, windows on two sides of room.

Hot water to bath a little problematic, as in took a long time for water to get sufficiently hot. Mixer tap was awkward to use - as in actuator appeared to be stuck. Minor issue.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was spacious, clean with a very comfortable bed. Both dinner and breakfast were very good with a varied menu. I travelled to Montrose by train so found the location particularly good as the hotel was within 10 minute walking distance.

I was disappointed that dinner was not served in the attractive dining room (had breakfast there) but was given a table in the bar area, as were other guests. Perhaps the hotel felt it was too early in the year to open up dining in the dining room?
