We did not have breakfast at the hotel. The main delight was the room service, in that towels were changed and room was cleaned and freshened daily. Despite being in the city centre, noises from the road did not intrude: good sound insulation and thick curtains! Staff were relaxed and ready to pass the time of day. But they were also efficient: very swift and sensible response when I left my phone in my room after checking out on day of departure.
We would have liked two chairs, rather than one in the double room. It is helpful to the posture not to be always seated on the bed writing or watching television.

The staff were all excellent and welcoming. The room was bright, clean, and airy. Always had enough tea and coffee, a hair drier, iron and ironing board, and even a fan, which helped in the glorious weather we had. The breakfast was excellent and our evening meal was delicious. The menu was great for us and reasonably priced, so we were satisfied to eat on site. The position of the hotel couldn't be any better for the shops and of course the beautiful cathedral. The river and park are a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel and Ely it's self to our friends and family. Our pooch enjoyed her stay, too. Dog friendly is such a bonus for us.
The only thing to mention is the fact that there was only one chair, and two would have been preferable.

The location was amazing albeit a bit noisy as you are centre of the city, but to be expected. Nice having a restaurant and bar downstairs. Very family friendly, didn’t know what to expect staying at a pub, but was pleasantly surprised. It’s an old beautiful building so no lifts to the accommodation but I did see there were some ground floor rooms opposite the carpark. Staff were all lovely and the bar was catered for doggy friends with water and treats.
Nothing that was the fault of the staff or the actual place. Parking was extremely limited, we were lucky and got a space and I noticed only one disabled space but saying that there were many carparks dotted around and they are all free. Also loads of designated disabled spaces on the sides of roads. It was a bit noisy at times, but nothing the hotel could change. It’s an old building with old windows and because the location is so central it will naturally be noisier. It was very very hot, again nothing the hotel could do (it’s Mother Nature after all) but they did supply a fan, (worth taking an extension lead if you like the fan by the bed) Just take that into account if the heat really effects you as you are unable to open windows too much for safety reasons.

Room: Large. Tidy. Fresh. Iron, Board & Fan. 5/5. Beds: very comfortable 5/5. Food: Excellent. Plenty of it. Well cooked. Well-presented 5/5. Staff: Friendly. Polite. Caring 5/5.
Bathroom: MY ETERNAL GRIPE. Almost every hotel we have been in does not have GRAB BARS for the less-well abled. Getting out of the bathtub, when wet, without bars to hold onto, is [for me and my wife – and, I guess for most other elderly people] almost impossible. The fear of falling is overwhelming. Hence, we spent three days at Ely without showering! We were glad to get home for a shower. 0/5

Excellent location, beautiful breakfast, comfy bed, spacious room, all very clean. The welcome was great and the staff very kind and friendly.
This is not a criticism but just to note that the Lamb is an historic building and so there is a warren of corridors to get to bedrooms, and steps in odd places. There's secondary glazing on the Georgian windows which keeps out draughts and reduces noise but makes ventilation a slight issue. Some reviews mention the rooms being very hot in summer. We visited in October and were cosy - the heating works well but I guess the historic nature of the building is why there's no aircon for the warm weather.

We loved our stay at the Lamb. The location near the cathedral could not be better or more central for visiting Ely. It was an easy walk from the station. The staff were friendly, very helpful and professional. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast on both days of our stay and all the food was excellent in terms of quality and presentation. The public rooms were spacious and well furnished and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed.
My only negative was the lighting in my room. There were two wall lamps and one bedside table lamp. All had grey shades and very low wattage bulbs. The bedside light had a small candle bulb. The room was therefore very grey and gloomy. It was impossible to read anything in the room, even checking the provided menus. Reading a book in bed was out of the question. In all other ways the room and our stay was superb.

Very central location Friendly and helpful staff Our room was very large Generous breakfast portions Evening food in restaurant was good Nice lunch and dinner places around Free on-site parking if you are lucky enough to find a space
Shower was cooler than ideal, even on max temperature Room ran a little cool - the radiators were often cool to the touch but it was really cold out, but there was a portable fan heater in the kitchen and that really helped Few surfaces in the room to put stuff on Car park really tight and difficult to navigate: there were a couple of big vans in there when we were to leave an a few cars parked where they shouldn't be

The owner and staff were so nice and helpful.
It was unfortunately very hot and the fan in the room wasn't enough to cool the room down but this was only late afternoon early evening. Unfortunately we couldn't open windows either for some fresh air. The staff were so nice and helpful throughout the staff, always going out their way to ensure everything was explained or done with a professional manner. Excellent facilities and beautiful room too. Would recommend anyone to stay here since it is centre to everything with free parking too.

This is a very nice historic hotel (built in 1828 on the site of a much older building), clean, well maintained, with friendly staff, nice beer and food and if you're lucky finding a space, as we were, its own small car park to use. We didn't have breakfast, but what we saw other people eating looked good. Although our room overlooked the main road, the secondary glazing on the sash windows did a surprisingly good job of keeping the traffic noise to a minimum and we had no trouble getting a good night's sleep. The room was warm and at one point in the night, with the radiator off, we had to open the window a bit to cool down. Not bad for an old building in winter. The drinks prices were a bit cheaper than the other places we visited in the city on the night of our stay and our evening dinners (lasagne and macaroni cheese, with Eton mess puds) were very nice. We only have smallish appetites, so were well filled once we'd finished. You may think this is an odd comparison, but it's as good all round as a Wetherspoons hotel. If you aren't familiar with them, that's definitely high praise. We've stayed in lots of those around the country and it's rare we stay somewhere else that's of the same standard. The coffee in the room was Kenco too, better than Wetherspoon's usual Nescafe instant. We're expecting to be back in Ely later in the year (I have meetings there every February and October) and assuming they're not booked up, we'll be staying at The Lamb Hotel again. We really liked the place.
The power of the shower in our room made the one we've got at home look rubbish (it isn't actually that bad), as my wife pointed out. As a retired plumber, that may turn out to be expensive! (That's a compliment to it, incidentally. Laughter is permitted.) We'll be staying there again later in the year, so there's nothing we didn't like.

Location in the centre of Ely is superb for local attractions and shops. Rooms was comfortable and clean and we were able to check in early when we arrived. All the staff were very friendly.
Only slight issue was with some of the food. We had sirloin steaks for our evening meal and, whilst tasty and cooked to our liking, were both very fatty. The lack of a steak knife didn't help. In the morning my wife had poached eggs which were more like hard boiled eggs as they were so overcooked. Minor things in an otherwise very good stay though.
