The room was a good size and very clean. Just think of it as a 4 star hotel without the reception or bar. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and restocked with coffee, water and snacks. I stayed for 7 nights and used it as a bit of a base to travel in the Motor Valley to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani (all within about 40 minutes by train). I also then travelled to Venice, Rimini and San Marino. It's about a 20 minute walk into the old centre from Amendola. I used the Marconi Express to get from the airport to Bologna, its then literally a 5 minute walk through the train station to get to Amendola. Bonus - good pastries and coffee available at the train station.

There was nothing I didn't like! A comfy, warm, quiet and safe place to stay.

Convenient location close to central station, and a 20 minute walk into the heart of the city. Room was small but pleasant. The property is in a 1930's Palazzo and felt secure. The room was tidied and restocked with toiletries, water, milk and small snacks each day. We were able to store our bags in the office on arrival. We couldn't get the coffee machine to work but borrowed a kettle from a communal store in the entrance corridor. WiFi was good. It provided a great base for exploring Bologna and nearby cities.

It feels a little unconventional at first: The rooms are in one half of the third floor and you pass offices on the way up, wondering where to go. The window of our room overlooked the main ring road (rather than the quieter Via Giovanni Amendola) so be prepared for typical city noise, although the double glazing helps. Protests around the station disturbed our sleep on two nights. The Nespresso machine was hugely frustrating - even an instruction sheet and then referring to online videos didn't allow us to get water out. The bathroom ventilation didn't work.

Hi, the host was really kind and answered all the questions that I had. We really liked the self check-in because we arrived a few hours after midnight. The room is clean, has everything you need. There is a good amount of hot water, also drinkable water and milk in the fridge. The location is spot on if you want to travel around Italy for the day because it is right next to the train station. Last but not least, the place is super secure! You have to go through three locked doors in order to reach your room!

Because there is no face-to-face checkin, it is important to read the email which is sent the day before your booking - otherwise, you stand outside the door wondering what to do next. While the location is convenient for those arriving by train, it can be a bit chaotic at times when traffic is heavy. It is also important to understand that it is about a 30 minute walk to the old historic centre where many of the tours commence.

We recently stayed at Amendola Central Station, which is conveniently located right at the central station, as the name suggests. The rooms are situated on an entire floor of a beautiful, residential building. Despite the central location, it’s important to note that, like most central station areas worldwide, it can feel a bit unsafe at night due to the presence of some questionable individuals. However, we still felt quite safe overall—just stay aware and keep your eyes open. The room itself was very clean and spacious, offering a comfortable stay. We particularly loved the special shower system, which added a nice touch to our experience. The hotel provides a Nespresso machine, tea, and water, but I wouldn’t classify it as a traditional B&B. The only breakfast offering was a small package containing four pieces of Zwieback (Brussels Biscuits / double toasted, super dry bread) and a tartlet, both packaged in plastic. If you’re looking for a more substantial breakfast, there’s a bar right underneath the hotel where you can grab a proper meal. There’s no physical reception on-site, but everything is efficiently handled through SMS/WhatsApp. The check-in process was well explained and easy to complete on our own. If you have any questions or need assistance, the staff is very responsive via messaging. Overall, Amendola Central Station is a good option for those who need a central and convenient place to stay in the city, just be mindful of the area around the station, especially at night.

Breakfast

I really liked how comfortable and fresh the room felt, a lovely relief after a busy city day. The bathroom was very clean and modern as well. The complimentary coffee and snacks offered were appreciated and were a nice touch in the mornings.

I chose the property as it was close to the train station and was walking distance to the center of town, although it felt a little unsafe in the immediate area. However, this was just the area of the property and no reflection on the property itself as it did have many safety features and locks etc.

Very clean room, renovated, big bathroom, close to train station and 20 mins walk from center. We had welcomed pastry and coffee in the room. Air conditioning was working perfectly. Owner was very responsive to all of our questions. Could not hear any noise from the street so that is also a plus.

The street of the hotel is not the best as it looks like is neglected and also dirty but we did not mind the street so much as we could walk to the centre and we booked this property since we wanted to be close to the train station and not walk much with our luggage. Other than that, the property is very nice.

It suited us to be near the train station. It was very easy to walk to the Piazza Maggiore and centre of Bologna. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had our own bathroom also spotless. It was lovely overlooking the garden at the back of the property and we had a Juliette balcony. Very quiet.The cleaner is the only member of staff we met. She was very pleasant and helpful.

We found it difficult to get in to the hotel when we arrived as we are not computer literate and don't have wi-fi on the phone. From then on we were okay as a key was left for us for the outside door as well as the room key outside our room door.

Great position, near train station, easy to get into the heart of Bologna, supermarket and Aldi close by, absolutely spotless, coffee and treats are excellent, the best shower I have ever had in any property and hotels, the on site staff are amazing, excellent and very helpful

I didn’t stay longer..

Really clean hotel with a perfect location by the train station. You can walk everywhere. We had a day in Venice by train and rented car from Sixt to go to San Marino. Try Il Veliero restaurant just around the corner. We had breakfast in the coffeehouse just down stairs.

We could hear the traffic noice from the street all night. Maybe depeds on the room. Ours was by a big street, room 6. We had just one blanket. Quite hard for friends, not a couple.
