Wow! What a beautiful ryokan! My new husband’s and I’s first experience in a Ryokan, and we had the best time here. We upgraded our room to a private annex with our own hot spring which was just incredible, especially as the views of Mount Yufu were outstanding. The annex was absolutely spotless and the staff were absolutely incredible, so kind, attentive and accommodating. My husband is pretty picky with his food and the cooking staff were super accommodating, making him some separate dishes more suited to his tastes which was very kind of them to do so. The Ryokan is very accessible from the train station and only a 10/15 minute walk from the main village area, which is beautiful. We would highly recommend this ryokan to everyone. And I encourage to invest in the private annex for a couple!

Beautiful Ryokan in the mountains, away from the crowded center of Yufuin but still just few minutes walking from there. We booked the annex accommodation with private onsen, the room was amazing and just 30 sec from main building for even more intimacy. The staff is super kind and full of attention for us, they delivered my luggage to my room once it has been delivered and they were always helpful with anything and always smiling. They even offered to take a picture of us at the check out before we left on their beautiful terrace. The restaurant where we have the breakfast is small so you can enjoy quietly your delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, we had 2 different breakfast for for 2 days we stayed. And aln of it just in front of the wonderful view of Yufu mountain.

Honestly, nothing, everything was perfect from the first to the last minute.

Very remote from where the tourists are - I had a car so it was easy to access and easy to drive my big luggage up the hill. Ryokan was very spacious and had all the amenities needed (toiletries, hakata, slippers, extra bedding if needed), and the private onsen was perfect for a dip. Cleanliness was up to standards. Service from the staff was great. I had both dinner kaiseki and breakfast in the main building (only a short 1-2 min walk from my ryokan with private onsen) and it was delicious!

The ryokan was beside another one, and I could hear some of their conversation when we were both in our respective private onsens (it's separated by a tall fence), or if they made loud noises in their room, I could hear them. This isn't a big enough issue to make me give this ryokan less than 10/10 though!

Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and there wasn’t much to not like. The provided meals were also amazing and high quality; and nothing too far out there that people from the west may have trouble eating. Just simple and delicious. Also, make sure to get the private room for a personal open air onsen if you prefer that. Lastly, as others mentioned, its a nice view of the mountain which I loved.

I was able to walk to the location because I only had a backpack but I can see it being a challenge for those with larger suitcases as it does go up an incline. Best to take a taxi and discuss with the facility.

The breakfast was varied - we had different breakfast every day. The onsen was quiet and peaceful, nice to relax. It is in a quiet area off the main Yufuin street, which meant privacy.

Common toilet was a little bit of a hassle. The games room massage chairs were a little worn out. Generally while the staff were helpful and the place was kept in good shape, one still did wonder whether its value for money or whether this is just the price range of ryokan in Yufuin.

If you're looking for place that is a bit tucked in with good privacy but yet close enough to town, this is the place for you. The restaurant has great views of the mountain. The surroundings are quiet, sipping a coffee in the open patio is a super relaxing experience. Staff are friendly and attentive, food is very well prepared and generous, onsen is great. The photos don't do this place justice. You can't go wrong booking this place.

We booked a family room which is a 2min outdoor walk from the main building. Not a big issue during our stay though it might be a bit cold in winter.

Our recent stay was truly unforgettable, largely due to the outstanding service from Mika. Despite initially a little lost to find the hotel, walking for 15 minutes, our perception changed completely upon meeting Mika. She went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, ensuring we left with smiles on our faces. The dinner was very worth it, offering delicious and well-prepared dishes that added to our overall experience. Additionally, the onsen experience was fantastic, providing a perfect way to relax and unwind. I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone seeking a delightful stay in Fukuoka.

Price was much better than what I got for the stay. Value for your money. The onsens are definitely higher quality than I thought, again, for the price... Breakfast was also wonderful Room was older as I expected but very clean

Nothing to dislike, other than nature (mosquitoes) which is somewhat uncontrollable. They were around the onsen and in my room Think they could do better with the name (Google does show another name) and also direction up Tip: they do reimburse your taxi fare from the station for the very first ride for check in. And if you walk, basically head out front of the station, left at the first road, you will pass a school on your left, at the top of the hill is the Lawson. Here is the trick, you should cross to the other side then turn left and walk up the hill. You will sort of share the road but it's safe. You will then see a vertical sign that shows their name, turn right and go into the small road and up the hill.

We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly. We stayed in a room without a shower or toilet, but it had a sink/wash basin. The view from our room was also nice. There is a gender segregated Onsen area which rotates on a daily basis. Each area has 3 “pools”, 1 indoor and 2 outdoor with each accommodating 2-3 people. It was never crowded. Onsen time is 5pm-9am next day. There is a games room with table tennis, mini golf and 2 massage chairs.

The hotel isn’t too far from Yufuin station but there are some parts of the road goes slightly uphill and unpaved. It’s not too bad if you aren’t travelling with kids or elderly or are driving. It would be perfect if Onsen time can be extended until around 11am next day.

We stayed at Mangetsu room and it was amazing. The room is very clean and equipped with everything I need. The outdoor onsen is open air but still very private, it's totally recommended for couple. Staffs were very helpful and kind too. One more thing, don't turn away just because you see they don't serve dinner or breakfast in room. They do it with purpose that you will get the best view when you are eating. We wished we can stay longer and will come back someday.
