Location was convenient, a short walk in a straight line from the railway station. Staff were helpful. Several options for good breakfasts within the hotel. Beds were comfortable. Storage space for clothes was available in the room. Bathroom worked well. We enjoyed several expeditions during the two full days we enjoyed Hakodate. Walking out of the hotel and away from the station quickly led us to converted buildings now housing many dining options, local produce for sale etc. The waterfront area is busy and attractive. Further exploration led to older parts of the city with a great mixture of architecture. We chanced upon a small shop selling attractive ceramic items. If it had been earlier on that day, we would have ascended the mountain but the weather looked uncertain.
Nothing in particular. As it's well located and has good facilities, the hotel seems to attract many tour groups so that late afternoon times are very busy around the lifts and there can be waits for breakfast at one of the restaurants. So if an early start is needed for the day, having breakfast from opening time would be advised.

Great location in center of Hakodate, walking distance to great restaurants and train station (and city tram). Parking right in back of hotel. Standard, good quality modern hotel rooms with very comfy beds. Nice onsen on top floor (women's one was very crowed, as it's small relative to size of hotel) with nice views. Buffet breakfast was enormous and incredibly diverse. Super friendly and helpful staff. Ice and vending machines convenient on our floor.
it's a huge complex...seems like 3 hotels in one. Once we found our way around it was fine.

The hotel is really close to JR Hakodate station, so that is really nice for travelers arriving by Shinkasen. It have a bus stop directly outside, which can take you directly to the cable car for Mt.Hokodate. The streetcars is a street away, and there are a few fishermen's markets and convenience stores nearby. Very good location. It is also closed to a few attractions like the Red Bricks Warehouse, the ice breaker ship, and western-styled buildings near Mt.Hokodate. The facilities are pretty new but we did get the older rooms, it is still clean and comfortable but like all other Japanese hotels, it is pretty cramped. The single bedrooms are good for two but not great. What is great is the breakfast, which is fantastic, I do recommend going as early as possible to avoid the lines. The onsen is great, has a great view. Overall, it is a good option to stay at for a quick one-night stand in Hokodate.
I do hope they tell us whether we got the newer rooms or the older rooms, all the promotional materials shows the newer building yet we got put into the older rooms, which felt unfair.

The moment I stepped into the hotel, I was in awe of the grandeur of its entrance. The intricately designed architecture, the elegant furnishings, and the warm lighting all contributed to an unforgettable first impression. I was also thrilled to find out that the location of the hotel was just a short walk away from the station. It was incredibly convenient and made my stay in the city much more enjoyable.
The entrance to the hotel was impressive and grand, but upon entering the rooms, I couldn't help but notice that they were quite dated and in need of a renovation. The furnishings and decor seemed old-fashioned and worn out, which detracted from the overall experience of staying at the hotel.

Fantastic location. Close to the key attractions like Motomachi, Hakodate Ropeway, Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses and Hakodate morning markets as well as good public transport to the further out attractions like Goryukaku Tower and Star Fort. I was worried it might be the worst of both worlds for access but I was wrong. It is the best of both worlds. The property is modern, clean, spacious and well appointed. Great onsen on the 13th floor with views out to the port/sea area and Mount Hakodate. I'd definitely stay here again.

We booked the hotel quite in last minute as a result of cancellation we made for another hotel booked via another booking provider due to their non transparent exchange rate conditions. And we were very happy with our choice! Hakodate Kokusai Hotel is a big hotel with three wings. We were staying in a triple room. Not a newest design, but was fine for our purposes. The hotel has an onsen with nice views on Hakodate. What really stands out is the hotel breakfast buffet. Great selection of dishes including DIY kaisendons (with ikura!), salad bar, milk dessert made from Hokkaido milk etc.
We could not open the window in our room (somehow it was locked) but it was not an issue so we did not even reported it to the staff.

I loved the perfect location to both the railway station and the sea. Also the staff was very friendly and I got amazing breakfast buffet (even though I am vegan, there were still tons of options; I was even provided in advance a full list of all dishes and their respective allergens). The amenities were top notch and my room was diligently and discreetly cleaned on every day when I was out on my business.
The ”onsen” wasn’t onsen at all. It was spa with overly heated water and just two boiling-hot pools at that. I really was looking forward this spa especially because it was one of the top reasons I chose this hotel. And there wasn’t even a sauna! That is a horrible disappointment for sauna-loving person such as myself. I also found an year old ticket from my room’s sofa. It seems they aren’t cleaned very often. Yikes!

Loved everything about this hotel. It was expensive but it was worth the money. Nice rooms, good location, beautiful inside. Onsen was great. Polite and nice service. Good location. Huge luxury hotel, many good options. A nice shop with many options inside. Breakfast was just perfect. There are two options: buffet and a Japanese served breakfast. There was a huge line for buffets breakfast so we want to Japanese and we got a perfect sitting and very tasty full Japanese breakfast. Made me very happy.
May be this hotel as perfect as it is is slightly too big. Many people there. That’s why we couldn’t go to buffet breakfast. After massage the lady took me to reception to pay. I found it very uncomfortable. I was wearing my pyjama and was tired and relaxed and I had to stand like this in front of other visitors. Why couldn’t they put the charge on the room and not disturb me? Also massage was not so relaxed as usual as the lady was very talkative and distracted me. But these are just very small details.

Room was very clean and comfy. The hotel provided 2 types of pillows, one memory foam for good neck support, the other was a firm standard pillow. The onsen was very spacious and they provided all the amenities so no need to bring anything other than your clothes. The location was close by many restaurants and the convenience store. Breakfast was probably the best part of the hotel. Very wide variety of Japanese food, continental, and standard american foods. Nothing negative to say about this hotel. Paid around $350/night all in, for the room with 3 beds (2 adults and a 3 year old) with the breakfast included. Oh, if you like Iruka (salmon roe), it's all you can eat at breakfast, along with the salmon itself.
Nothing negative to say about this hotel. The staff spoke English well which was helpful.
