The suite: large, clean, well-lit, stylish; comfortable bed and couch, washer/dryer, sea view, sound of waves The service: impeccable The dinner: flawless, maybe the best I've had in Japan (having spent several months here) The breakfast: also very good The price: very reasonable, for what you get. During the meal I thought for a minute that I had missed a zero in the price, but no, it was just good value. I look forward to returning.

Default checkout time of 10:00am is a little early for late sleepers like me (but you can check out later for a fee). The beach wasn't that appealing.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We initially booked the upstairs room with a loft. We were planning to put kids on the loft. After we arrived, we realized that the loft has no build in stairs(it was not shown in the any of the pictures), it is a pull out very steep stairs, that is no suitable for anyone under age of 12 to go up and down. There was no AC on the loft either. Be aware. We talked to the owner and changed to the downstairs room. We had to put 3 kids on the couch, but it was a lovely stay. The view was incredible. We watched the sunset from the deck. You can also walk a short distance to the beach. Highly recommended the first floor unit if you are traveling with kids. Having a car is recommended for this area.

We did not like the loft at all.

The location is beautiful and the apartment is well equipped with the best and quality amenities.

We had meal plans (breakfast and dinner) included with the room, and the food was amazing. For dinner, it was a beautiful 6-course French dining. Breakfast was equally delicious. Our room was deluxe twin, and we had full length balcony facing the ocean which was incredibly beautiful. We were the only 2 guests having dinner on both nights, so the chef cooked for just the two of us, and the service was impeccable.

The place is about 15min drive from central Otaru, and the surrounding was pitch dark at night. It did feel lonely on the night when we were the only guests. Reception closed after 9pm, so we were practically the only 2 women staying at the property at night. Only one pillow provided, and it was really small and thin for our liking. Also, it would have been great if coffee was provided in room, there were only teabags. Small issues. Would still recommend this place to others.

Our host was quite welcoming and friendly. He even picked us up at the train station in Otaru when we arrived. Breakfast was fantastic. There were two radiators in our room to ensure that the room was warm. The beds were comfortable and the scenery beautiful. You can reach Otaru by bus. there is a stop nearby. We can recommend this place.

Wow. We were blown away by our stay at Otaru Geihinkan. This charming guesthouse is located literally steps from the ocean. Not only could we open our balcony door directly to the sound and view of the ocean waves, this room was the largest we’ve stayed at in Japan, equipped with the newest appliances and a full kitchen. It was perfectly clean and very modern. The heated floors next to the bed were a pleasant surprise in winter, and the loft was also a cute feature. I’d imagine the tatami beds in the loft would be a hit with kids- we actually wanted to use them ourselves, but forgot to tell the manager when we arrived late so they weren’t set up and we didn’t know if we could use them. They also have a restaurant on the first floor where each table has an ocean view. If we ever get the chance, we would come back in a heartbeat! I’ve never stayed at a more uniquely beautiful airbnb, and for such a reasonable price!

Fantastic room with an amazing Ocean view near the north tip of Otaru. The room itself was incredibly spacious and fitted with excellent modern kitchen amenities. The staff were extremely friendly, and the breakfast service at the onsite restaurant was delicious as well. Excellent choice for couple or even families as the loft space would be great for kids.

Nothing to complain about, it was excellent would definitely stay here again when visiting Sapporo/Otaru.

The distance from Otaru town was 15 minutes drive away. This property is literally located at the coastal line, a fascinating view from the room balcony and dining area. Breakfast was included, and it was surprisingly appetising as if served at a fine dining restaurant. The property operated since 2023, so everything is in a very good state. Everyone entering the place will need to take off their shoes at the reception, only allowed in their house slippers. There is individual r.emote to control the airon, heater (even for the bed). I liked the high ceiling in the room, that has a loft area to accommodate 2 more persons if needed. The service staff was wonderful and helpful extending help to us with our luggage. It was so relaxing watching the waves and seagulls busy at the shore.

There is no elevator in the property, so you may want to request for lower floor if you don't want to carry them upstairs or best is travell light.

What an amazing stay! The facility was beautiful and spotless, the staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast was truly top notch. Located right by the bay, we loved falling asleep to the relaxing sound of the waves. The landscape is absolutely stunning, peaceful and serene, yet still close to everything you might need. If we had more time, we definitely would’ve stayed much longer. Highly recommended!

the apartment was great, quiet, big, kitchen, comfortable beds.the view from the apartment was great, quiet , the staff was very helpful. and pleasant.

some said you could hear the sea. if you open the windows you just hear the hum of the air conditioners. also the breakfast was average to poor. that includes the western and Japanese ones. for the money paid , one would expect perhaps a coffee machine with coffee available 24/7, some basic kitchen supplies. for very little expense they could improve the experience.
