My Mum & I stayed in this hotel for a trip to Badminton Horse Trials. All the staff in this hotel are super friendly! We brought our spaniel and they couldn't have been more welcoming to her, she even got her own sausage at breakfast! The room was clean and comfy and a perfect base for us to head out and explore. The Indian restaurant was amazing! We ate here twice and the food was brilliant both times!
If I'm going to be really picky the only thing that could be improved is the bathroom in our room could do with updating but at present it does the job.

The friendliness of the owners is at the top of my list. They were welcoming, helpful, informative about local attractions, and available for a great deal of the time. Breakfast was excellent.
I'm not a big fan of Indian food, which is the primary menu for the attached restaurant, although what I had on the first night that I stayed was pretty good. But I went to a pub down the way for the rest of my meals other than breakfast. I also really would like to have had local English beers available at the bar. I know that the bar and restaurant are a separate enterprise and not run by the owners of the hotel. But it was a bit disappointing.

Stayed several times before. It’s a wonderfully, friendly, informal and unfussy hotel. Super staff. Huge car park! Always made to feel welcome., and the cooked-to-order breakfasts are just great. The restaurant is now given over entirely to Indian cuisine in the evening and is excellent, but it’s a shame that British cuisine is not also catered for at the same time. Personally I think it’s a bit of a mistake, as not everyone necessarily wants to eat ‘Indian’ every evening. However, there is the option of a local pub only a 100 yds away which serves very good traditional pub grub and more, so all is not lost! The hotel is very clean although a touch care worn but that’s not surprising considering the effect that Covid must have had in the loss of income. I’m just glad the hotel is still open for business as it’s just perfectly placed as a base to visit so many of the Cotswolds towns. We’ll definitely be going back to Pettifers!
Nothing really. Our shower could have done with a bit more ‘oomph’ but that was about it really.

Hotel was lovely and comfortable the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms are dated but for the price paid it was expected. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms warm. We ate in the Indian restaurant and the food was absolutely amazing, breakfast was nice too. The bar is a lovely chilled vibe. We went to the pub a minutes walk away for a few drinks it’s a lovely pub but if eating you need to book. You have to like dogs to come here and we did wish we brought ours after visiting.
The breakfast was basic. Maybe have apple and orange juice out so you can help yourself.

Lovely property, beautifully decorated lounge and bar area , very friendly staff from reception to dining . Good sized room and large comfortable bed with good quality bedding . The food in the hotel Restaurant was excellent , it is a separate business but they work from the property and also run the bar .
Room was a little dated and needed modernising especially the bathroom , although it was a good size the shower was near on useless , took ages to get hot and was barely any pressure coming through and then it got boiling hot and if you added the tiniest bit of cold it went freezing , very frustrating . The dated room did not bother us as it was very clean and comfortable but not having a good shower in the room is annoying , we were going to mention this on check out but there was no one on the reception when we left .

Staff were incredibly friendly on arrival and throughout. We decided to eat at the hotel after a day of sight seeing and it did not disappoint. The food was beautiful. The The waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable. After dinner we stayed in the lounge area and played board games which were provided by the hotel.
As with most of the reviews, the negative was that outside of the main hotel / lounge area, it looked tired and in need of a little TLC . Our room was more than adequate but the bathrooms needed a little updating. This said, it did not detract from what was a lovely short break. Breakfast was basic but nice and fresh.

The location was lovely, the room was very spacious and the staff were all super friendly. The bar area downstairs had nice decor and there was a lovely outside seating area. The breakfast also tasted great and was served quickly.
Unfortunately the cleaning of the room could’ve been better. There were cob webs all around the ceiling, above the beds and in the bathroom. If someone went round with a feather duster this could’ve been sorted in a few minutes. There was also a lot of dust across the tops of the curtains. Again this would’ve been a quick fix if someone quickly ran over it with a hoover. The breakfast was lovely but it was a shame there was only one rasher of bacon and no bread with the breakfast.

The staff were amazing - very friendly, and attentive. The lady on reception had treats for our dog, and was very friendly. Also, we had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was fantastic, serving Indian food (I had a salmon sizzler, which was nicely spiced, without the heat). The restaurant, and bar managers were very attentive, and the waitress (whom also served breakfast the next day - also very good!) went above and beyond, particularly for our dog, who got a sausage at breakfast! The room was basic, but we each had a bed(family room with three beds), which were very comfortable, and the bathroom spacious. The hotel is also in a nice country location, in the Cotswolds, near to lots of nice little villages, and towns. Also, only 15/20 minutes from Westonbirt Arboretum, which is well worth a visit.
It was fine, but the shower was over the bath, and the bathroom was spacious enough for a separate shower cubicle. The accommodation block, where we stayed, and the rear of the hotel were a bit ‘tired’.

Location suited us perfectly for Cotswolds. The colourful entrance and bar area photos showing the settees and relaxing area appealed to our taste, looked great and didn’t disappoint when we arrived. All of the staff (reception and dining area) were really helpful, chatty and friendly. Our room was a comfortable large double with a super king size bed and en suite. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and there was sausage for our dog too, who was allowed access to all hotel areas. Plenty of car parking available and a grassed area to allow our dog to stretch her legs. We would certainly stay here again. Thanks very much Pettifers.
The following narrative isn’t about what I didn’t like but refers to observations I made during our stay. There were a couple of areas that need a little bit of TLC to improve on what is a great hotel ie entrance door porch area wallpaper, no en-suite window blind, dining table top surfaces were scratched & worn.

Great breakfast with many choices, hot and cold. Good size room that was cleaned and towels changed daily. A little bit of noise from an outside lift occasionally, but ok. The decor is a little dated, but we thought it added to the charm. Well located within an hour or less of many places to visit in the area. Will definitely return if we are in the area again.
All good really. Just a little bit of noise from an outside lift occasionally, but ok. The decor is a little dated, but we thought it added to the charm.
