The location is superb, right in the heart of downtown Ottawa. We used to stay there under its previous guise (Capital Hill) which was getting decidedly “tired”, so were delighted at the facelift — now bright, clean, and we’ll-appointed.

Small point — the pillows are too “soft”, need at least one a little firmer. Larger point is that of parking — now none on-site so the best option is to use that at their sister location a couple of blocks away; not a huge inconvenience that can’t be addressed otherwise, and certainly of no concern to anyone without a vehicle.

Amazing location, and it was like a little apartment. It was thoughtfully laid out and very comfortable. Loved the clean modern feel.

The parking was a bit of a pain as it was not located on site but it was manageable once I figured out the system. A larger or more responsive keypad to enter the building would be better- saw many people struggling with multiple attempts.

Strangly small bathroom for the size of the room. TV was parallel to the bed, meaning you can't easily watch from the bed.

I booked this accommodation pretty last minute due to a cancellation at another hotel and I was so impressed with the room and the facilities for the price. The room was impeccably clean, the kitchen had everything we needed for simple meals. The laundry machines were huge and free of charge which was much appreciated as we have been travelling for a few weeks. There was also common spaces to hang out in if you didn't feel like being in the room the whole time that were also incredibly clean. The location was very central and easily accessible. I would definitely book here again if I returned to Ottawa.

Amazing apartment! Great location very close to the parlament area and main points of the city. Very big, clean, and comfortable. Also, it has an area of games and washing machines to use for free for guests (also a gym but we didn't try this). I would recommend Sonder 100%!

We had no issues using our code and doing the checking process online, so we didn't need to talk with the reception at all. But we noticed that sometimes there was nobody in reception, so this can be a problem if you have technical issues doing the process online or if you have any question and want to talk to someone in person. In our case, we wanted to know where was the locker room, and a cleaner helped us to know this, as there was no one at the reception.

I had a great stay at Sondor Arlo Ottawa — everything met my expectations. The photos are accurate, the location is excellent, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated the app — it’s easy to use and very convenient. I’m truly thankful to the staff for taking care of me when I needed to stay an extra night. Since my room was already booked, they kindly arranged a new one, along with a late check-out and early check-in. That kind of service makes a difference. I left Ottawa with a very positive impression of the city — thanks in no small part to this hotel. I’d gladly stay here again. Thank you!

What can I say, this place is a gem. Super simple, no fuss. No formal check-in or check-out thanks to their tech setup, and no card required. By using the app it makes things easy. The personalized touches really stood out. Free luggage storage before and after your stay (just lock it yourself, no need to ask anyone), a laundry room if you need it, and a mini kitchen that’s fully stocked with everything you’d want. Honestly, it felt more like staying at a friend’s apartment than a hotel. The space is beautifully decorated, modern but cozy. And the staff? So kind and genuinely trying to make your stay as smooth as possible. You can tell they care.

Room for improvement? Not much. Everything has been thought through with care and intention. It’s rare to find a place that nails both comfort and convenience like this.

How cutlery and kitchen appliances were offered

How small the unit was (more so the bathroom - felt super tight) There was a black hair around one of the shampoo bottles in the bathroom when we first used it and noticed it (not ours) and they charge extra for room service (when asked to change the bedsheets) which caught us by surprise. They offered to give to us and to do it ourselves

Sonder Arlo combines the comforts of a B&B with the services of a hotel. We loved it! The unit was spacious, kitchen well-equipped. Two bathrooms a bonus. There were laundry facilities, luggage lockers, a game room and and a fitness room. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable, the pull-out couch was not but that's expected I guess- the kids were ok with it. I'd love to stay in more places around the world like the Sonder. Our winter stay in Ottawa was made easier because the Sonder Arlo was situated very centrally. Close to the Rideau Canal, Parliament, etc. Close to bus stops for easy transfers.
