Staff really helpful. Booked via Booking.com. Had been allocated outside room by them access via upstairs via fire escape. I have had previous experience of being robbed whilst staying in similar room at Gatwick prior to a holiday and didn't feel safe being a solo traveller. Hotel changed me to inside room which was more expensive but did not charge me extra. A lot of friends had booked for Xmas party event. Lovely room, helpful staff

Only one downstairs room if you have disability. Friend rented with disabled husband. Room large, comfortable and good access with shower but outside downstairs bungalow separate from hotel if help needed

This was a last minute booking, in which booking.com offered to pay for the accommodation due to issues with my prior booking. Therefore it required me calling them and asking numerous questions regarding my allergies and more at short notice. The Rettendon Lodge staff were amazing! So professional, polite, friendly and they offered us a late checkout to match what we were meant to get at the other venue. Even if we had paid this price, it would've still been extremely reasonable! We ended up staying for quite a few hours the following day after our booking, to sit in the last of the summer sun in their beautiful surrounding gardens, then had food inside. They cater for numerous dietary restrictions too. The room/bathroom itself was very clean, modern and comfortable. There was no issue with neighbouring noise and we were given a key and key code to access our room after our Halloween party.

I cannot fault them. The only thing to note that it is quite far out from anywhere and difficult/expensive to get taxis to Chelmsford

We came and stayed because we went to a wedding at Three Corners and the staff members were awesome and very accommodating. We required the room for 11am and Lou, Ellie and Maggie were wonderful over the two days we stayed. My nephew was happy cause he was entertained with your outside activity and the room was big enough for all of us and clean which is all we wanted. It was close and convenient. The breakfast option was really good and value for money. But now iv visited I will make sure to book direct as it was ashame as breakfast wasn’t included with the price knowing the price was similar but you live and learn. The chef on the Saturday unfortunately made the breakfast with mushrooms and tomatoes oily however besides that it was made back up for on the on the Sunday as they corrected that error and advised us which was the best beach to go to before going back to Birmingham and I must say Thorpe Bay beech was the best.

One of your entrances to the main road to take a right on main road was crazy and dangerous with the cars.

Room was clean, tidy and well decorated, with a good outlook over the well kept gardens. Breakfasts were very good, with good choice and portions, well cooked and presented. Dinners were very good, with a good menu choice.

Very little was not liked as we were well catered for in our 2 night stay. Staff were nearly all pleasant, chatty and approachable. Only one member of staff appeared a bit out of sorts but we all have our odd days, but he was still able to supply us with an excellent breakfast as a party of 6 in 4 rooms.

The location was good for visiting RHS Hyde Hall and it had good proximity to two pretty large garden centres. I imagine it would be a good venue for weddings too. The dining menu was really good if you like veggie and vegan food. I had a full meal one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it (I'm vegetarian). Staff were friendly and I slept well in the room. Overall, very good.

Nothing - it was fine for me. Just what I needed. I suppose I wish there were more buses but then the location is a bit far away from town. Buses come but not regularly so it's more easier to travel from if you have a car or bike. Not the venue's fault though so overall the venue is great.

A group of 5 of us stayed here, and had 4 rooms between us. Rooms were spotlessly clean, and quite modern. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, especially the breakfast team! Food was delicious, with lots of choice, and portions were large. Hotel itself had a lovely feel, with nice garden, and plenty of parking. Rooms were very good value, breakfast was extra, but at £8.95 a head was good value, and again quite a bit of choice. Vegans and Vegetarians catered for.

In 3 of the rooms, the double beds were tiny. 4ft beds, which for 1 person is fine, but for a couple wasn't great.

Staff member that booked me in was very friendly, welcoming and professional as other staff. Nice size room. Good food and large portions.

Room faced car park and unfortunately I couldn't have my windows open because people smoking outside. Bed uncomfortable.Staff member in restaurant who took our order didn't smile once and definitely not welcoming like other members.

The restaurant surprisingly had so many gluten-free / wheat-free options. Literally 90% of the menu was gluten-free, I had a delicious chicken, spinach and stilton pasta and my partner had sizzling chicken fajitas and we were both very impressed. The location is great as it is sort of above the pub and restaurant although didnt hear much noise. There is also a beautiful pond outside.

The mattress was a little too stiff for our usual preference but still, it was fresh and clean so thats more of a personal preference than a real issue.

We stayed in a budget room. It was perfectly clean and comfortable. The pub serves great food and the breakfast was lovely.

The room was above the kitchen and a bit noisy until 9. Friday morning the bin men come very early and it was very noisy. Unfortunate that we stayed Thursday night.
