PERSONAL service is the key to my stay here, in a rather quaint and characterful hotel full of charm. You don't get a bland white box for a room, you get an odd-shaped room with where everything is there but perhaps not how you expect it. The shower took ages to pump hot water through, but once the water was hot, there was one of the longest baths I've ever seen, and the shower over it worked well. I got tea-making facilities. My bed was a bit bouncy, but it didn't stop me sleeping like a log, and waking refreshed. It is likely that every room here is different from the next, and some may not have private facilities, but mine gave me everything I wanted. Breakfast was 'full English' (even in Scotland), and the personal service I mentioned adapted this to my vegetarian requirements, and everything was fresh cooked to order. There is free car parking, but it was tricky for me to find, but I found a little square behind the hotel with parking.
The WiFi was so weak as to be unusable. But this had the advantage that I got out of my room and explored lovely Jedbergh. Plenty of little restaurants and cafes for you to eat at. Also a large food store where you will get almost anything you need for a holiday

Nice position in the centre of the high Street. The owner must be the hardest working man in town. When we arrived, he was up a ladder fixing the light, he then checked us in showed us our room, worked behind the bar and in the morning cooked the breakfast. The town has a nice community feel and we were made welcome by the locals in the bar.
Suffering from arthritis in my hips, the amount of stairs was not the easiest for getting to the room. But it shouldn't put anyone fit from staying.

I booked this because I was not prepared to pay over £200 for a room in Edniburgh for a business meeting, and the Spread Eagle suited our purposes for a business trip. The owners were really friendly and we chatted in the bar about the challenges they faced taking on a building that was over 500 years old. I actually really liked the quirkyness of the accomodation the rooms were clean and the shower worked well which is what I needed.
Its an old building so don't expect all the facilities like in a modern hotel.

Very central location. The hotel is very old, which is part of its charm, but it also could do with a spruce up - it looks a bit tired. However, mine host was very welcoming and so helpful and friendly that the drawbacks of an old and tired building could be overlooked.
The decor needed an overhaul, but everything still functioned perfectly - so only a cosmetic issue.

The owner of the hotel was very friendly and welcoming on arrival. He explained checking in, booked breakfast time for the mornings and checking out on the final day. Everytime we saw him he was smiling and very polite. Breakfast was lovely. Remembered our food order and there no wait time for food. Room was homely and clean, bathroom a good size.
The shower took a while to warm up.

Hosts very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room, very clean and spacious and light.
There were some niggles, which were sorted out as soon as mentioned. I'm not too keen on the check-in process. We didn't realise we would have to ring on 1st arrival.

Jedburgh was an amazing, historic, and picturesque town to explore in the Scottish borders. I am quite glad that I was able to see the area while staying in the Spread Eagle Hotel. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was tasty.
The bathroom was quite cold, as I don’t think there was a heater in there.

We had a very warm reception at the hotel. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. We were out very late doing a ghost hunt at the Jail so we were freezing! We came back to a very cosy and warm room. The breakfast room was lovely and good service. We would stay again.
My only complaint is my eggs were very overcooked at breakfast, otherwise it was an excellent stay!

Very clean and owner was smiley and welcoming. Breakfast was quick and nice plus the owner was very attentive.
You couldn’t access before 4pm the door was locked I was assured I could drop off luggage beforehand but when arrived owner was out so had to wait a good 40 minutes to hand in luggage resulting in us being a bit late for a festival.
