It’s a cool space with a very central location. There was a great synergy created with all the travellers. It attracts a lovely people.
There wasn’t any drinking water provided. This was a little surprising as any hostel I’ve stayed in will supply that.

Nice common areas with roof top, free drinking water. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The communication beforehand was sometimes a bit difficult. We booked this accomodation for the specific reason that it said online that they have airport transfer. This was important to us, because we arrived late on new years eve and thought it might be a struggle to get somewhere otherwise. The hotel itself does not have transfer! It cooperates with another company for that and if they have no availability, you're out of luck - which was the case for us. So after ~24 h of travel we were ripped off by the (official) taxis at the airport, had to take a collectivo and another taxi to arrive at the hotel well after midnight, having lost ~ 130€ on the way.

Feel at home! Cuca Macuca provides great value, comfortable spaces, amenities, and only 3 block walk to the beach! There are many personal touches at this property that make it feel welcoming, including a full kitchen and fridges. The bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned daily (except sunday), and all the people at reception are very nice and helpful. The owners, Sol y Pablo are an awesome duo (brother + sister). I am glad Cuca Macuca is a great choice for me and it will be for you too, though it is really worrisome to see the fast-paced construction and expansion of the small town. Another great thing is that there are new dorm rooms that have a keypad lock entry so it's safe. (The entire town is very small so safety has never been a concenr for me. The hostel is up 3-4 flights of stairs. It is what it is. Oh and the rooftop is lovely! Can see the mangroves and the beach. There is yoga there some nights. Also they have a few new private rooms (about double the cost of a dorm)
The side facing the street can be quite noisy with trucks in the early mornings due to it being close to construction and a passage to some popular hotels. The side facing the town square can be noisy in some evenings (but usually things quiet down at 10:30 pm). Alsoo, this is such a minor thing but more hooks/hangers and shelving and mirrors please. There is really not much else I don't like. Obviously it is a dorm-style place so you may be unlucky to room with someone who does not respect your space or smells, but it is what it is.

At present this hostel works out to about 17USD a night. In MX, mosquitos are everywhere, this hostel provides AC in the room at night, this keeps the mosquitos down at night, otherwise they are everywhere and it is advisable to make sure you have serious mosquito liquid for your skin, use it as soon as you get up, on any exposed skin and do it again after you shower or enter the ocean. The hostel has a full kitchen with stove, pans, plates, a large fridge, but no microwave. NO Tv. A nice book shelf with books. Nice rooftop space but its closed after 9pm. Power outages are common in Puerto Morelos. They do have bicycles for rent. it is 4 flights of stairs to reception. This is the only hostel that is Port side, otherwise it is a 2 mile road across to the Colonia Town for any other hostel style accomodation. There is an excellent Grocery nearby. There are also petite built in lockers with keys big enough for personal bits and laptop for each bunk.
The desk is not manned 24 hrs, some guy forgot his key was too drunk and banged on the door for over an hour from 5am. Not the hostels fault, there are idiots everywhere in the world. Mosquitos everywhere. Location is across from jungle and a few blocks from ocean so only way to cool the property is all windows open in day with breeze, then at 9 on goes the bunk dorm rooms AC and close the door! If you are in the female dorm small room you Could, i fyou wanted to... buy a mosquito killer machine from the grocery to blast the room at night, but be aware that the door to the room is kept open to try to keep airflow through the property all day.

Staff was super amazing! Very kind, friendly, helpful, super accommodating and just awesome. The location can't be beat, right in center of town a few minutes from the beach. Roof top is awesome for sunrise and sunset especially in the tiny pool. 360° view of mangroves and sea .Pool is small but all you need for a wee float and cool down or meditation.
Honestly, my only complaint was the don't have water for guests. Not a big deal, but when you wake up and realize you are out of water and have to walk down several flights of stairs and back up, kinda a bummer. But oxxo and chedraui are like right next door, so not a major issue

The staff were very friendly and helpful! I stayed in a dorm and a private room, both good value. Very close to the beach. The kitchen is also great and the rooftop. They had a great recommendation for scuba which was Southeast Divers. I've seen comments about the rooms and showers but I honestly thought it was a great little hostel!
No one said the kitchen closes, so when I got up to scubadive I couldn't make any breakfast. The aircon was also way to high in the dorm.

The hostel is amazing! I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm and it was all very good - it was not the main travel time when I was there, that's why it was not really full, so we were just max. 2 people in my room! There is a big and well equipped kitchen, an amazing pool on the rooftop and also a great chill out area on the roof (perfec for yoga for example) The staff is very nice and helpful Amazing location (its a small town and the hostel is in the center)
I think if the hostel is full it can feel a little bit crowded since there is "just" the rooftop and a small living room for chilling out. But also..the beach is like 5 min away, so maybe thats no problem at all :) Can't think of anything else!

Very friendly staff with very good advice. The value is very good for the location, you can get to the beach on foot in 3 minutes and the supermarket is also nearby. The common area is very nice and there is plenty of space to store our food.
The AC only works at night which they mention but it does get quite hot in the room. The lobby and the dorm room are at the top of some very steep stairs.

Staff were fantastically helpful and friendly, made me feel at ease. Hostel was clean, showers, toilets and floor done daily. Everyone there was lovely. I came here as my first stop from the plane and it made travelling as solo female for first time in Mexico a wonderful experience, felt very safe . Social but very relaxed, great place to go to avoid the madness of party hostels in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen. Ultra close to beach, 1 or 2 minutes walk, curtains on bed for privacy.
Nothing it was perfect! I feel bad I'd ran out of cash to tip so if you read this please tip the staff on my behalf.
