The location is excellent, in the quiet, gated community of Playacar. The property is located directly on the beach and is a 15-20 minute leisurely walk to el Centro. We felt completely safe walking to and from dinner in the evenings as you are on a private road until you reach "downtown". The beachfront of the hotel has not yet given way to the erosion which has occurred at many nearby hotels. You can wade in the crystal clear water, and walk up and down the beach for kilometers. The small restaurant (with a beautiful view of the ocean), serves a buffet breakfast with a variety of options and an egg/omelet station. There is also a beachside snack bar which opens at noon. (The guacamole and picco de gallo were an absolute favorite). We did not take the all inclusive package, preferring to have dinners in town. That being said, be mindful, the prices, especially the cocktails are pricey. We would likely pick up wine/ alcohol / snacks at a convenience store and bring our own to the beach next time. We stayed in a privately owned room 344A, which offers a spectacular ocean view. The other room 344B does not offer the same view ( as mentioned in the description). Monika, the host, was absolutely charming. We had pre-arranged for her to pick us up at the airport (avoiding the hassle of airport taxis), and she drove us back. She also generously allowed us a very late checkout (for free)since she had no one checking in that day and our flight was at 20:30, that gave us a whole extra day at the beach. Upon arrival she explained that we have access to all the hotel amenities, but if we need something specific for the room, we can contact her (she and husband live in the unit just below). The WIFI is excellent and is accessible on the beach ( a first for us ). Monika was very eager to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel is not new is and showing its age on the exterior. When you arrive you will be hit with overwhelming odor. People might think it's related to the resort, but it's actually from the sargassum. The odour comes and goes with the shifting wind and strangely you do get used to it. Since we are not technically hotel guests ( we are renting the condo), there is no housekeeping, which was not a real problem for us. The breakfast was inconsistent. The first few days were excellent and from New Year's day the quality dropped some. The friendliness of the staff was based on individuals. Most of the wait staff was congenial, but Herman, the manager was not very amiable and the reception staff was indifferent.

Location location! Beautiful beach. Mattress great. Not too hard and plenty of pillows. Small fridge in room ..coffee pot .. no problem taking drinks to beach. But full service beach bar and restaurant if needed. The room includes using the beach beds, towels etc! Best part is the hostess . Speaks English 👍 and very accommodating to all your needs. I’d definitely stay here again. Also note the beach here is big and not eroded like other parts of plays
