Love the fun room decor, incredible bathroom with large jetted tub and 1/2 room sized shower, king beds and proximity to all subway lines. Convenient to shopping and dining as well. Staff was very helpful.

Rooms are available by the hour in that area though most guests seemed to be standard travelers. My TV didn’t have international service though my daughter’s did, so be sure to ask. Her room was slightly more expensive, too, so just enjoyed the break from TV. Remember that easy access to trains means you are really close to trains and you do hear them quite a bit, though didn’t keep me awake.Biggest challenge was very small vanity/sink area with terrible lighting for doing makeup. 😉

Great place for staying as a couple. Big rooms for Japanese standards, huge beds, jacuzzi and large TV. Lots of amenities and replacements every day. Remember it is a love hotel, so you leave your key at reception every time you leave, and it’s in a love hotel district. I personally prefer love hotels to business hotels. Staff was very kind and we loved our stay.

The trash cans were a bit small for the trash we brought home everyday from Tokyo streets :) But it’s a very minor issue. Also, the bathrobes and pajamas do not need to be replaced every day.

Despite the stigma of a love hotel, this is honestly the best stay we have despite shifting to 3 different accommodations with in Japan. From the size of the room down to their service, It was very well done~! They even managed to collect a delivery that I ordered to the hotel and delivered to me when I reached back. Very attentive to detail and value for money, they even provide drinks and desserts everyday if you ask for it~! All with in the heart of Ikebokuro which made travelling very easy!

This is a love hotel. Let me first state clearly it is therefore not exactly family friendly, but it's simply brilliant for travelling couples. Most standard room hotels in Tokyo are small, with small toilets and usually non smoking. For the price per night, you get full amenities in the room, decently large enough room size to include a sofa and coffee table, and a jacuzzi in the toilet. How great is that? :) And the toilet amenities having everything you need without even touching your own toiletries bag. For smokers - they have rooms that allow smoking. This is simply god-sent. Imagine having to layer up and walk downstairs in winter, every single time you need a smoke. The location is about 500m from Ikebukuro station, so it may be a little inconvenient if you're pushing large suitcases especially during winter or when it's raining but it's a non issue as long as you plan ahead. Needless to say you get plenty of food & shopping options plus transportation convenience surrounding Ikebukuro station. And because it is a love hotel, reception is discreet and fuss-free. Privacy!! :) Also take note that check-in time is only 6pm onwards. Again - a non-issue with a little planning ahead to maximize time spent.

We had a fantastic 😍 time at the Hotel Varkin. It is the perfect place for a couple. The private spa bath is huge. The drinks fridge was convenient. We didn't order food to the room because we went out for dinner and also got food from the neighbourhood to bring back to the room. The mood lighting was super sexy. 🔥 Everything we needed to have a private and romantic experience was there for us. This room was great value for money, it was very clean and the staff were so helpful and kind whenever I needed to ask about something. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will stay again in the future. 💞

I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Varkin. The reception staff were incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and professional, making me feel welcome and well cared for. Everything was very private, which added to the comfort of my stay. The location is a major highlight - right next to the main tube and train station, making it easy to explore the city. I’d especially recommend this hotel for couples looking for a relaxing getaway, though it may not be the best choice for families.

The rooms are very spacious, more spacious than most Japanese hotels I have stayed in, and quite clean. The location is very close to Ikebukuro station, only 5 minutes walk. Staff were very helpful and friendly during our stay.

I didn't realise at the time of booking but the hotel is actually a love hotel located in Ikebukuro's red light district. So while we felt safe the whole time, and had an enjoyable stay, it was perhaps a less favourable area of Ikebukuro compared to the regular tourist areas.

Located in a quiet area, surrounded by other love hotels but it's the kind of hotel that will guarantee you peace and privacy. No other tourist will bother you, no room service knocking at the door in the morning that you want to sleep in, just perfect. Of course you can request room service every day (even in the afternoon!). The rooms are very big, especially the bathroom and the sparkling hot tub. The front lady is super nice, youncan speak basic english with her, or just type your request into Google Translate.

The hotel is close to the train tracks, so you will hear the trains bypassing. But the rooms are well isolated so it's not a big deal. The train sounds are clearer in the bathroom.

Although it is a love hotel, it has more privacy than an ordinary hotel. You can check out at 12:00. Moreover, they provide a welcoming service for free (ice cream, wine, etc.). Also, Donki is near the hotel and close to the train station.

Light panels that are in front of the bed are hard to press, especially turning on the lights. If you want a room with windows, you need to pay extra. Also, as the train station is nearby, you can enjoy the train tracks sound until train service ends.

Location is easily accessible from the train station and the 24 hours Donki was right at the corner. Great value for the size of the room if travelling as a couple. Hotel staff were very helpful in helping to store our luggage before check in and check out.

The decor looks abit outdated and the smell of the smoke is strong despite the hotel's efforts with the air purifier and such. But overall, the accessibility for the price beats the smoke smell hands down. As this is a love hotel, the lights were dim and dark to set the mood but opening the windows would let the natural light into the room.
