A rare example of a hostel that knows what it needs to be. There is a well-oiled system in place that makes everything function smoothly and simplifies your life. The beds were amazing due to their privacy and comfort. The lockers outside the room kept everything quiet. The staff were lovely, we shared many warming chats. Fresh towels were provided every day, and the complimentary coffee was delicious. It also helps that Kyoto is such a magical city.

The kitchen was a bit small, especially since they are running a cafe here, meaning everyone tends to stumble over one another. The side of my mattress hadn't been appropriately cleaned, and there were some loose papers stuck there from previous guests.

Highly recommend for solo female travelers! I stayed on the female-only floor and appreciated the quality of the capsule. The capsule felt spacious and comfortable with enough room to lounge and sleep well. I will note that the ventilation could be improved as by the 3rd night, I was experiencing a sense of stuffiness and noticed a building up of dust along my headboard, though the fan was on 24/7. Though in comparison to my overall positive experience, this is a slight issue, one that was fixed with a nasal allergy spray. The location was also convenient, safe, and quiet despite it being near to Gion! Highly recommend.

As far as hostels go, this is really great! Everything felt very new and clean. Clean towels provided every day for use. Location is perfect. Lights in the room are controlled by the hostel and dimmed at a certain time in the evening. Capsule was a fun experience to try!

The photos gave the illusion that the lockers were big enough to fit suitcases in side, but this isn’t the case. The storage for suitcases in general is somewhat small as there are 24 beds available on each floor. Showers are unavailable for use after 10am which feels a little early if you wanted a slower morning.

The staff are extremely friendly, even hanging and talking with you when they are free and if you are up for a chat! Despite being a hostel, being inside each capsule is surprisingly quiet and there is a ventilation setting that you can turn on if you want. Toilets and showers were never a problem as there multiple on each floor. The luggage and locker area is on the outside and so no noise wakes up any sleeping guests. I think there appears to be sound dampeners set up because it really was surprisingly quiet to sleep. Location is also great.

Nothing. Maybe suggestion to differentiate the toilet slippers from room slippers as it can be a bit confusing.

Obviously one goes to a capsule hotel mostly because of the cheaper prices. This place is fully functional. It could have been a bit more clean and during the first night the level I was sleeping on was so cold I thought about letting the staff know, but luckily it got fixed. The location is also great, if you want cheap accommodation in Kyoto, where it is usually anything, but cheap, you might as well stay here.

I loved this place! The staff are wonderful people - friendly and helpful. They genuinely enjoy working there and they like each other. And this attitude has a huge impact on staying there. They have created a great community where it is comfortable to hang out. I became injured while there and they were super supportive; they found me a clinic to go to, offered me ice for the injury and inquired each day about how I was doing. Great location - many places a short walk away and tons of buses nearby.

Not a lot of space for luggage.

Fantastic stay - located in the heart of Gion near the Yasaka Pagoda, perfect if you want to see the city early morning without crowds. There is many convenient stores and restaurants close by, as well as buses and trains to travel throughout Kyoto and beyond. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with activities available and food reccomendations. Beautiful rooftop terrace and common areas, full kitchen and clean rooms/bathrooms. Because of the common areas it was easier than other hostels in Japan to meet people which is great for me as a solo traveller. Beds are comfortable and you receive free toiletries and clean towels every single day. Very good value for money and pleasant stay, would recommend.

I’m travelling in the summer so the rooms were a little hot to sleep for me personally but I’ve found this is the case in most of the hostels in Japan.

First, the extra point not a must but a greeting( a welcome , goodbye, welcome back) make the traveler feel warm.q Nice environment, very convenient , they have towel, toothbrush,shampoo..fridge,oven, cup, cofee and etc. Privacy toilet, bath room.Place to chit chat, pretty nice roof top,(the table need to repair abit) Walking distance to the temple ,actually there is one behind it quite small but so nice and zen call圆通寺. The only problem happen was one of the ppl open video loud on 4am.but anyway, we cant control this right. Beside this, what they provide i give more than 5 star.

Amazing and very helpful staff, great capsules and a lovely common area. The rooftop has a stunning view and the location is very nice overall. Would book again!

The laundry machines and dryers are on the rooftop. If it rains you have to walk through rain to get there. They're very weak and do not clean or dry properly. But that's only a minor criticism, everything else was great. Unfortunately some guests didn't respect the rules so it was sometimes a bit loud in the sleeping area.

This was my second time staying at Tsukimi and it’s such a nice and clean place. The location is great, close to a bus stop and the beautiful Gion area. The staff are super friendly and comfortable to be around! I love that you have a locker for some of your things and that the bathrooms and showers are connected (but you can’t hear any noise) to the room and private to that floor only. The capsules have both a dimmer and full light, plus an inbuilt small fan for air and are not a bad size (but not huge either).

Personally I wish the lounge was a bit cozier to hang out in
