Very charming little Izakaya, a bit far from everything, but the bus can get you wherever you want.

The atmosphere was nice, the garden was very pretty, and the bathhouse was nice. The staff are also very kind, the cleaning ladies were especially wonderful, they were very helpful several times!
The location is a tad far from Kyoto, so buses are your only good option for commuting to and from the city center. Google Maps also has a hard time plotting the bus routes back to the Ryokan, especially any time past 6 pm or so. An easy solution to this problem is to simply find the routes for either City bus 8 or 高雄京北線, both will lead to Narutaki Matsumotocho, which is only about 3 minutes walking distance of the Ryokan. Other than this, I loved my stay and had no problems!

I was traveling together with a friend and she preferred to book a place a bit outside of the city. The place is still very accessible by bus (stop is almost in front of the house), or even the tram if (you don’t mind a 15 minutes walk). The staff was very kind and welcoming and you will easily get along with English, if you don’t speak Japanese. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and would also recommend to take the Japanese breakfast in the house. Cannot judge the dinner since we usually returned late and ate somewhere else. Highly recommend the ryokan!
I think we have nothing to criticize.

We really enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast every morning. All the staff were wonderful and we got clean towels and toiletries every day.
Nothing at all, it was perfect. We wanted to stay far from the noise of the city, this was wonderful and just 10min walk to Lawson and 20min walk to Anytime Fitness gym. There are bus stops within a minute walk so you can just ride it if you don’t feel like walking.

Our favorite hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan. We dreamt of a Ryokan and we got exactly what we had in mind : peace, comfort and a bit of nature.
It is a bit outside of the center, so you take two buses to join Kyoto’s center. But I can’t think of any hotel that has a natural garden in the middle that isn’t far away from the center of town.

A quiet and super clean spot—perfect for a break from the busy Kyoto vibe. Great value overall, and the unagi at the restaurant was seriously good. There’s a cute little town nearby that’s perfect for an evening walk, and a lovely café with amazing almond chocolate logs. Would definitely stay again!
Only thing not many facilities but for us it was perfect.

The Ryokan was lovely to stay in. It was a little further out from Kyoto's centre but we enjoyed the quiet. We opted in for a room upgrade when arrived and checked in. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
We were a bit disappointed to learn that the one night we stayed, on a Sunday, the onsen was not available. However, we still enjoyed our time.

The staff was very nice and were quick to help whenever anything came up. The futon was comfortable and warm, makes me wish for one for myself. The property was far enough away from the city center that I had no trouble finding a seat on public transport and there weren't many other tourists.
The bugs like warm rooms as much as you do in the winter.

Traditional japanese accomodation located in a residential area of Kyoto, away from the crowds. Peaceful place with a cute garden and reasonably priced in site restaurant which serves japanese food. There are less known temples in the vicinity. Closest train station is about 20 min walk from the Ryokan.

Great decision to stay here. Our room was overlooking the gorge and wooded area behind the property, and I went to sleep every night hearing nothing but the babbling brook outside our window. JR and city buses will get you downtown or to the other attractions in the area. Very good Japanese breakfast.
