Our comments are based in the hotel Mimaru Kyoto Kawaramachi Gojo instead of this one because there was a issue with double booking that was communicated to us weeks before our trip. The staff of Nishinotoin Takatsuji took care of transferring our booking to their sister branch, where we oroceeded directly the day of our arribal to Kyoto. The Kawaramachi Gojo is ideally located (a bit far from the Subway Karasuma, though). Walking distance from Gion, Pontocho, etc. and lots of restaurants, convenience stores close by. Plenty of space in the room for a family of four, kitchen and eating area included.

The property was managed by lovely staff. The rooms were very well appointed with amenities and kitchenette that was well stocked with plates, bowls and cutlery. There was a great supermarket up the road called Life. Well appointed with many great prepared meals to take back to the room after a busy day sightseeing. Facilities in the hotel well very clean.

Having to share the washing machines down stairs was a bit of a hassle. Availability was limited, and someone left a tissue or something in the machine so all my blacks came out with white tissue fluff. The room would have been good if we could get some natural light into the room. The beds are incredibly hard. Not firm, but hard.

Big enough room for 4 pax. Although the hotel didn’t provide bed room slippers and toothbrushes, etc., they basically provided everything else! You could loan things like an airfryer, leg massager, toaster, steamer and many more! They provide coffee/tea sachets and even baby diapers and adult sanitary pads. Location was really convenient too. Very friendly and helpful staff. They even have free luggage delivery to other Mimaru hotel outlets. If I’d known sooner, I’d have booked the same hotel chain in Osaka, so i can just send my luggages over for free.

We only realised the air condition was not switched on after the 3rd night! The aircon control panel screen was on the whole time but we only realised, you still had to press the “ON” button for the air conditioner to be switched on! So silly. There was an air purifier that blew out cool air that kept the place cool.

We had a tatami room. The room is catered for 5 pax so there are plenty of room. Bathroom is nice that it had a dry area to dress and wet area to wash. Toilet is small considering the size of the room. Had a little kitchen with all the pots and plates etc. Good to have a proper large fridge to use. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and friendly and spoke very good English. Had a self-service laundry and vending machine on site. There is a bus just a few steps from the hotel.

There are not that many places to eat around, need to walk to the main road. Getting there with luggage is best done by private transfer/taxi, not really practical to take the subway and walk.

Like the other Mimaru hotel locations, staff were very friendly and helpful. They spoke fluent English. The location was a short bus ride away from Kyoto Station. However, it was quite a distance from other JR stations. We liked that it had a few good places to eat close to the hotel and there were convenience stores and 2 supermarkets a short walk away to purchase things to eat inside the room. All the kitchen utensils you need were available in the room.

The windows didn't open out to anything and from what I recall not able to let fresh air in. Maybe the venue needs 1-2 more dryers as there was competing space for laundry facilities.

Great rooms, outstandingly helpful staff... No wonder everyone says this is the place to bring a family. It's nice to have a kitchen with a good-sized fridge to store conbini hauls, hahahaha. The large dining area with comfortable seating was a huge plus. Even our room, just behind the front desk, was very quiet at night. The bath could use an automated tap shutoff, but the rain shower head is an outstanding addition. Just a great place to stay.

We really had no complaints.

The Mimaru offered a large family space with comfortable beds and a decent kitchen area for preparing food. There are restaurants and local shops nearby and it's an easy, short walk to Shijo station and other areas of interest. We loved the smaller, quiet location this apartment hotel offered. Staff were helpful and welcoming. A very nice place to stay for seven nights. Would certainly recommend.

This was by far the best room we had in all Japan. It was quite spacious and we finally could feel with more freedom inside the room. Furthermore, the extra additional “Japanese style” living room was very handy, as we could have and cook nice dinner or early breakfast right in the room. The room was spotless and had all necessary amenities. Transport to move around the city were within walking distance

The location wasn’t that close to the main attractions and you didn’t have lot of restaurant options near the hotel, you always had to take at least a 15 minutes walk.

The staff is friendly and helpful. We had adjoining rooms for our family of 5 and very happy with the size. The rooms are spacious and clean. All the cutleries, cups, bowls, and plates are adequately supplied and clean. Bathrooms are spacious, too, compared to many other hotels in Kyoto.

It will be good to have more washing machines and dryers. We had to wait for our turns to do the laundry during peak hours, usually at night when most folks are done with their day activities.

Excellent hotel with great hospitality and service. The team of staff were always smiley, super friendly and very very helpful and patient. There was a Taiwanese lady at the reception, who provided us with super clear explanations on directions, offered to help to book restaurants for us, and also arranged for luggage delivery. She speaks really good English and Japanese too. She made us feel very very Welcomed. It was a very very pleasant stay for our family of four definitely! My teenage boys loved the hotel rooms so much with he bunk beds and personal space. So much that we decided to book another Mimaru chain hotel in Tokyo for our next few days of travel and cancelled our original booking with another hotel. We were very impressed by the service (all staff speaks excellent English), the spacious room and the convenience. About 7 mins walk (500m) to Shijo Subway, which easily connects us to other stations ard Kyoto. If we ever visit Kyoto again, this will be our house stay for sure.

No big issues at all. If we must really be nitty gritty and fuss over nothing... it will be that they do not provide the luggage stand/table. It may be somewhere in the cupboards etc but we couldn't find it. However, the room is huge and we just lay open our three luggages over the floor space. No problem to us at all.
