The public bath! A perfect Japanese experience, a great way to relax and learn about the local attitudes

The staff at the reception was not able to communicate in English Breakfast was quite boring, with the same stuff every day and little variety. Lamentably almost no fruit at all...

Very nice stay with perfect location near Kyoto station (~10min walk). To Gion about 20-30 min walking. In room you can find everything you need: comfortable beds, pajamas, oral care products, razor disposables, etc. Definitely can recommend this place for staying in Kyoto.

I take off 1 point only because of prohibition to visit public bath to people with tattoos. It's 21th century and there a lot of people with tattoos, especially among tourist from Europe/USA/Russia, come on

We had a great stay at Keio Prelia Hotel Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel is beautiful and it was incredibly convenient to have an on-site onsen. High-quality toiletries were provided both in the rooms and at the onsen area, which was a nice detail. The rooms were impressively soundproofed — we really appreciated the peace and quiet. The hotel seems quite new, as everything sparkled with cleanliness, especially the bathroom and toilet, which were spotless and well-maintained. The room was thoughtfully designed, with quality materials used throughout.

One small downside: we arrived at 2:30 PM but were told that check-in wasn’t possible before 3:00 PM. However, after dropping off our luggage and connecting to Wi-Fi, it was 2:45 PM and we were suddenly allowed to enter our room. It wasn’t a big issue, but a bit more flexibility or clearer communication would have been appreciated. Overall, a very pleasant stay!

The location was great, as it was walking distance from Centre but also very close to Kyoto Station to go everywhere. The beds are very comfortable, and you can adjust the room temperature. Also pyjamas are provided and all amenities are perfect, including access to a very quiet hot bath space. Staff are very helpful always.

I liked the breakfast as it had a variety of choices, however it was exactly the same every morning. Also, the restaurant did not offer any kids option which was a little bit of a shame. The room lacks storage space. As a family of 3, and staying for 6 nights it was impossible to store anything so the room got very messy!

The size of the room in comparison to all other Japanese hotels we stayed (with comparable prices) at was amazing. The amenities that this hotel includes are great for the price point as well! The staff was very nice and accommodating, and I would definitely rebook this hotel next time we're in the area!

I wish it was a little bit closer to the train station, but it's really not that far away. Also I wish they had more of a Japanese-style shower room as opposed to the tub, but those are really minor nitpicky things.

The room was very spacious compared to all other hotels we stayed in Japan. Pillows were the most comfortable ones as well. I really loved the pajamas pants, super comfy! Breakfast was good although there wasn't much variety.

There are 4 laundry machines at the common area, 2 are allowed for all whereas other 2 are for females only. I don't get the reason, but since one of the "sex indiscriminate" machines was broken and there was a big line I had to put and take my boyfriends clothes for him at the "female area". It was manageable, but we couldn't grasp the rationale of this.

Walking distance to Nishiki area. Walking distance to Gojo subway station. Bottled Water, Tsujiri teabags, drip coffee bags, mini fridge, bath salts provided. Spacious bathroom with tub and shower. Sento.

Breakfast is very popular. There’s a queue on the mornings. You have to purchase a ticket from front desk if breakfast is not part of your reservation. I didn’t eat cos of this. Room looks spacious but there’s no space to put your luggage.

Great location (close to both the bus and train interchange). Short walk from gion and kiyomizu-dera (just over 20 minutes). The hotel was very clean and provided daily housekeeping. Close to a variety of restaurants. Friendly staff. The hotel is very helpful in assisting with kuroneko services (luggage delivery).

There are only 4 washing machines for a lot of guests. You just have to be quick!

Location to Goju station is great. But personally, as a first time visitor, I would have preferred to be near Kyoto Station or Kawaramachi. It would have been better for visiting the tourist hot spots and restaurants.

The bathroom was reeeally tiny. No space to keep products, hair tools or anything you need when getting ready.
