The room was a very good size with a great view. The bed was comfortable and good pillow selection, the balcony allowed for you to sit out and enjoy a morning tea or a beer in the evening. My balcony was best in the morning - as late afternoon the sun moves around so shaded but pleasant but think this is typical as it's the East side of the island.
Would have liked a small fridge to allow the milk to stay fresh and the water bottles cold but a small detail. The decking on the balcony needs a little maintenance and a cushion for the outside furniture definitely makes the seats more comfortable. The hill up to the hotel was a little steep at the end of the day - you knew you'd walked it on a warm day.

La Fregate does breakfast in style. Excellent ingredients with the range of hot options very well presented. The breakfast serving teams were lovely people. Walter a star! On two occasions however, heated food was rushed to arrive in the middle of a fruit and cereal course. It is irritating when this happens. Consistency across the serving operation would be better. Dinners were exceptional. A work of art on every occasion. The whole setting for dining was special.
The room we were given (101) should be avoided. It was always beautifully clean and housekeeping set it for us immaculately. The bed was very comfortable….9 very good sleeps! There were 2 issues. The views promised across the harbour were spoilt by an interrupting glasshouse type canopy serving the function room below and secondly, the sound insulation for the ceiling/floor above was so poor that active guests above sounded like a parade of elephants throughout at least 2 evenings and late into the night. The setting of the hotel is lovely but steps down through attractive gardens that lead to a further descent to town will be a challenge for some guests.

The staff are incredible. I’ve found myself reluctant to share my experiences because I would never want the Hotel to become so popular that I couldn’t stay there..!! Thank you for looking after us each and every time we come. The Howards

The courtesy of the entire staffing. Some most polite and helpful people. Richard in particular is an asset to the place. I was warmly welcomed and even had a free upgrade plus the room was prepared early for me on request. Amazing! Oh and views!!!! unparalleled

Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Large room with patio area. View from the room was beautiful, looking over harbour and islands. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful with advice and places to visit. Hotel is near the centre of St Peter Port.
Beautiful hotel but you either have to walk up a hill or the steps in the hotel garden, but was worth the climb to the hotel, plenty of taxis if required, but don’t let this stop you from visiting this wonderful hotel.

Very peaceful with wonderful views over the Little Russel. Lovely staff and delicious food.
The operation of the shower was a little complicated to figure out.

Our room was very comfortable, with a lovely view of the harbour, sea and distant islands. The breakfast was superb. The continental breakfast had a good range of cereals and lots of fresh fruit. The cooked breakfast was individually prepared to our taste and was delicious. The service from all sectors of the hotel was always attentive and polite.
We did feel that the cost of dinner was rather excessive, leading us to chose some excellent restaurants in the town. Maybe some simpler, less 'Cheffy' options could be introduced. That said, the food we had was lovely.

Lovey classic hotel in a quiet location with fabulous views. Lovely attentive and welcoming staff. Tucked away at the top of the town but a short cut down through the gardens took you to the waterfront in just a few minutes. Good choices for breakfast, relaxing terrace to look out over the harbour. Free parking (don’t come in a large wide car though as it’s quite a narrow lane). We stayed in the original part of the hotel. Home baked shortbread each day on the tea tray.
Our room had a fabulous view, had lots of space and lovely furnishings. It was effected by the noise from the bar at the bottom of the hill as the noise seemed to funnel up hill to the hotel (Thursday evening was fine but Friday and Saturday were effected until closing time).

The restaurant staff could not be more attentive- the service they provided was exceptional. We enjoyed the views and the old fashioned charm.
The receptionist in the evening was not particularly friendly or helpful. She seemed to have a bit of an air about her- perhaps we weren’t to her liking/standard. We asked for a late checkout and she said wasn’t helpful at all. The room was spotlessly clean but a pretty standard room. It wasn’t £285 a night worth. No safe, no mini bar, standard double bed. The floorboards desperately need replacing - they were creaky all over!! When my husband got up in the night for the loo, the whole hotel knew about it!
