A beatiful property, close to Amboise city center. Oliver, the property manager, was very friendly and gave us great recommendations .

My niece, who could read French better, book the property for me, but she made the mistake of booking it on the very evening and it was on the wrong day 26 Nov. I wrote to the owner and I explained that there was a mistake. The reply was that I should go through Booking.com to settle. Then the price changed in a few hours and went up ! The Château jacked up the price by €47 as I had to book for the next day. I thought it was not very nice of them to do so, and there was nobody else except another family who booked the place for the night. It was very opportunistic but I guess the chateau really need to make money! That did leave a bad taste in my mouth!

The hotel was very very pretty, the grounds were great and overall it was a great experience

We had some issues where the heat was really high the first night and we could not lower it . The next day I let concierge know and it was a bit better the next night but still very warm and windows can not be opened to help cool. At check in concierge mentioned stink bugs which are not a big deal during the day but it was annoying when one woke us up in the middle of the night. Also I would skip the breakfast. We had to let concierge know early and we did for the first morning but it was bread, cheeses and coffee. I asked for scrambled eggs and was told there would be a charge besides the 17 euros we were already paying so opted for a boiled egg. There is a really good bakery up the road for cheaper prices too

A unique property as it is built in front of a former rock quarry and the property grounds itself have much to explore. We left wishing we had spent more time there. The breakfast was the best we had out of the many hotel breakfasts we had in France, as the eggs were done perfectly, the croissant was warm and the accompanying honey, jams and meats were great. Above all, the service was exceptional as our daughter had left our headset and the management was kind enough to send it to our hotel in Paris where it was waiting for us when we came!

The rooms could have had more toiletries.

The grounds were amazing and I loved walking them. The rough rock and mines made the place special. Our room was clean and spacious. Oliver the owner was friendly and helpful, when available. Property was located close to Amboise and other attractions.

It was difficult to communicate with staff, very busy and appeared most is needed. The ability to text with staff would have been helpful. WhatsApp is what was used at other properties. Air conditioning is shut off October 1st and opening the windows is the answer to cool the room. This worked effectively, unfortunately there were hornets concerns. We killed one the 2nd night of 4 and were paranoid to leave our windows open after that. Spent the nights hot and uncomfortable after that. Also, the restaurant was in business when we booked, disappointing this was not available once we were there.

We loved our stay, liked experiencing a stay in a chateau, Olivier was was very receptive to our needs, fantastic service, and friendly staff. We enjoyed the restaurants he suggested, particularly L’ecluse, great food and ambiance. We enjoyed the wine tasting Olivier was able to book at short notice, a non complicated, enjoyable experience with Daniel. Breakfast in the Chateau was great, and just the right amount! We don’t need to be Christmas full in the morning, this was just right, delicious cheeses, home made Jams, and honey from their bee’s. We enjoyed a walk in the woods, the swimming pool and Amboise area.

Nothing really, except it may be a little rustic and you’ll enjoy everything as much as we did !

This is a gorgeous, dramatic Chateau built in the early 18th century (1701). The owner, Olivier has lovingly restored the property, preserving some of the most dramatic features while providing a contrast with modern touches. The rooms were spacious, bright and airy, with very comfortable beds. The property itself was beautiful, in a quiet location but very close to the town of Amboise. The pool area was very impressive, and they also provided equipment for canoeing on the river. Olivier could not have been more gracious! He took the time to let us see the property and gave us many many local tips that were invaluable for our stay. He also allowed us to tour his other property, Chateau Nazelle, which was built in 1518 and is absolutely incredible. Plus, there was on-site parking, air conditioning, delicious breakfast, troglodyte caves and a lot of lovely spaces to put your feet up and enjoy the area.

The service was exceptional from Olivier and his team. Our room was large, renovated and very comfortable. We had the family suite which included a large bed for us and two twin beds for our kids. After arriving, we walked the paths of the property and took the kids to the pool. The pool is gorgeous and heated. The next morning we enjoyed breakfast before heading out to see the castles. We met Olivier again at breakfast and he gave us some great recommendations for where to go and what time to visit to get the best experience possible. The location of the chateau is amazing; close to the city center of Amboise and many prominent chateaus, but far enough away from the busyness of the city to be peaceful. Olivier also had his very sweet dog there, which we all enjoyed. Also interesting is the way the building was built into the hillside and the tunnel.

To be honest, my first impression of the chateau upon arriving wasn’t the greatest. We were early so it was empty when we arrived; all the lights were off, it felt a bit spooky. There was a bit of an antique shop smell in some of the rooms. There were cobwebs in some corners, including in our room. Being built in the 1700s, you can definitely see signs of its age. Despite that, I can definitely say the charm of the chateau and the people won me over quickly. We all really enjoyed our time and I would stay here again if I were back in the Loire Valley.

Chateau Perreux is an amazing place! The chateau, the grounds, the rooms, the staff all exceeded our expectations! Olivier and his team were beyond helpful! Recommendations on restaurants, local family wineries and chateaus in the area. Reservations made for dinner at truly delicious and unique places, were all greatly appreciated and enjoyed! The breakfast offered was amazing as well!! The best on our travels this trip! We definitely will suggest this place to everyone we know traveling to this area of France!

Most beautiful location so close to Amboise. We were enchanted by the place. We absolutely loved Olivier, Poppy, and the staff. Going to the Chateau was a dream come true. Olivier was very kind, attentioned, and super knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was very good. Olivier lit a fire in the chimney for us since it was a little chilly that morning. He even lit candles too. I loved listening to the owls hooting at night. This is my kind of place, loaded with character in the best way possible. The grounds were peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed taking an early morning walk. I wish I could've stayed longer. I felt very happy there. We will return.
