The room was very beautiful and overlooking the harbour. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was well laid out

The pillows were rather stiff. I made a gamble not bringing my own based on the website boasting that they are very good. The bed was more on the firm side.i would have liked better water pressure in the shower but it was ok I suppose. The restaurant hash browns had literally no seasoning on them and no salt or pepper at the table. The road was torn up outside and gated off so that wasn't fun, they share parking with a city parkade which was kinda sketchy, if you have a truck over 6 feet you need to park further away which I definitely didn't like

Staff were lovely, bed comfortable, large bathroom, room large, all clean.

The hotel ordered a taxi for us which we appreciated, however, the taxi driver ripped us off. The hotel should be more careful of who they call for their guests, as it reflects badly on the Coast Bastion when our overriding memory is of being vastly overcharged by the taxi they arranged for us. As we were on our way to the ferry and then airport, we didn't have the time or energy to argue with the taxi driver about this, but the memory lingers and it taints our experience at an otherwise nice hotel. On another note, we found the bar area a bit clinical. Would have stopped for a drink except for that!

Great location, in walking distance to many restaurants and gift shops. Lovely room with a fabulous view of the marina!

On check-in Staff promoted their restaurant, giving us coupons for it, so we changed our plans to eat there instead. Sadly then when attempting to get a table we were then advised they were fully booked with non-hotel guests with reservations due to an event elsewhere so we would have to wait an hour for a table. Frustratingly this was something check-in staff should have known. Also, we received a text not long after arriving asking if we needed anything else. More towels were requested as we'd booked a room for three adults yet only given two towels... still waiting for those towels!

Our room was huge with a wonderful view of the harbor. We were able to have the sliding glass door open so a nice breeze off the waterfront entered the room at night. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was perfect with plenty of hot water. The gym has plenty of equipment for a good workout too. Location of hotel is perfect for catching the ferry to Gabriola Island. Parking is available in the parking garage for a reasonable daily rate.

There wasn’t anything for us to dislike during our stay.

The room was absolutely beautiful. It was very clean. The bed was sooo comfortable and I loved the view I got of the harbor and how close it is to the harbor. The staff was extremely friendly.

The only thing I would change is the way the parking structure is set up. At the front desk I was told “ once you park, look for the 2 white doors with our hotel logo, but it was soooo hard. I think they should have more signs that lead to these doors as there are other white doors and it’s very confusing, but the hotel cleanliness and remodeled rooms made up for it.

Central location

You should warn people of the parking issue in front of lobby people park there for extended periods of time while this posses a problem for check in. It’s fine too park at parkade but check in is a challenge very frustrating driving around waiting for people to move , when we arrived there were 3 cars there which didn’t move for a half hour, when your a first time customer visitor to island and don’t know parking issue, maybe a little advance warning of this issue would be great.

We stayed in room 904. The view was incredible. The location made it very easy to travel to the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre for a swim meet. We appreciated the size of the fridge and the microwave which we requested in advance. Extra towels were available on request. The a/c was loud but kept the room comfortable. Bathtub was very slippery. One of my kids fell out of the tub and came close to hitting her head on the toilet. (A rubber tub mat was provided. Just be careful that you stay on it.)

The bathtub stopper leaked so I couldn’t have a relaxing bath. I would have appreciated the extra room of a queen bed but we managed with a double. The restaurant was expensive for the serving sizes but appreciated the convenience.

I ate breakfast at the restaurant. The pancakes were very tasty and the views were wonderful. I really liked the bath products.

My only suggestion would be add a few hours to the bar open times- maybe keep the bar open until midnight ( not the restaurant ). We were there for Jr Hockey games and it would have been nice to end the evening with a cocktail from the bar.

Our room ...room amenities & comfort was very good. The hotel staff were great.....our hotel clerk went Above his duties to ensure our stay was safe & our belongings as well.

We were Very upset that the safety of our vehicle and the contents inside could not be guaranteed when parked in the paid parking facility offered . For a 'higher end' hotel, thats Terrible! It was clear, by the arrival of fire trucks and police cars to the hotel just after our arrival ( & not by any means...late in the evening) that safety in the area is very questionable. I would not recommend this as a family hotel at all.

Harbour view, lounger I love, love. Patio door is awesome. Love bedding and pillows. Reusable soap, shampoo, etc is excellent. Very clean rooms.

Housekeeping didn’t come back to clean room once we left late morning. They came around 9am and slid a note under door that said we missed them. We let front desk know we wanted cleaning service but they never did come. Came back to a messy room, full garbages and unmade bed. Really wasn’t happy about that. They need to keep the cleaning staff checking rooms throughout the day. All people leave their rooms at different times when they are not checking out. Coffee provided in room is bitter, not good. Tastes cheap. Need a small microwave.
