Loved the decor of the foyer and architectural style of the Savoy. Staff were lovely and accommodating when storing luggage pre and post check in and check out. Room was not massive but big enough for us. Glad we got a window room as some looked liked they were inside rooms ? Lovely comfy king bed. Location was great for us as we used the train at Southern Cross station right across the road and the nearby free trams. Close to eateries, Spencer DFO and other shops. Nice walk to MCG. Great for exploring Melbourne
Some diesel smells from railway station. Not hotel fault but mornings could be than rest of day. Need bigger cups for coffee/tea - much too small and perhaps a couple of side plates and a knife just for small snacks would have been handy, nothing major.

Location: very convenient, right at the city centre and opposite Southern Cross station; couple of tram stops nearby as well. Service: friendly staff. Rooms: cleaned regularly. Just a bit too cold, though. I also recommend visiting the V Hotel Spa at the Lower Ground level and try one of their packages. One of the best spa experiences I've ever had! Too bad I didn't get to try the Alexander Bar, though.
They don't provide the basics such as dental/shaving kits, which is a surprise as I've never experienced this in other hotels I have been to. You had to ask for them at reception. Same with bathrobes and slippers - this part I understand, environmental sustainability and all. However, for this kind of hotel, I would expect a simple toothbrush and toothpaste at least to be provided automatically. Bathroom is a bit cramped as well.

That it was across the rd from the station. It was quiet and peaceful
The staff behind the reservations counter weren't very friendly, to be honest. I run a motel in Adelaide, and to not say anything as u come in of an evening is rude, especially when u are the only people in the foyer. That was strange every night to... and the bar staff were amazing and so nice. I would expect that from the check in desk. Little strange. The bar on fri & sat night closes to early especially when u are coming in from a show and would love a night cap. We seemed to get there about 10pm each night and it was closed. The bathroom in our room very very mouldy that needs attention asap. We needed more tea and coffee and milk, we never had enough given to us each day. Bigger milks to longer staying guessed would be nice too.

Love that the Art Dec style was maintained during renovation. Spotlessly clean and stylish hotel, staff wonderful, beds and pillows were soooo comfy and aircon was very quiet, unusual in a hotel room. A very special thanks to wonderful James in the restaurant who went above and beyond, was very cheerful and made our evening drinks and dinner so much fun and memorable. Note to Management - he's definitely a keeper, look after him! Also a big thank you to Gerard who made our night so special as well.
Hard to think of anything. Maybe just that it isn't located in the heart of the CBD where shops are. It's just 2 free tram stops to the heart of the shopping though so not a big deal. But the good thing about the location is being across the road from the train and airport bus station.

The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins Melbourne was the perfect location for our weekend away to attend a wedding in the city. The location was close to everything and made it very easy to get around. The hotel room itself was spacious and met all our needs. We also attended the onsite buffet breakfast daily at an additional cost and enjoyed the food avaliable. The staff were friendly in all our dealings and the hotel was clean in all areas.
Unfortunately when our room was made up, towels were removed and not replaced. However staff were prompt at fixing this once reported and were very apologitic of the situation.

The bed was very comfortable. It was a nice touch to have a staff member to manage luggage and although I did not catch his name he was a lovely gentleman and extremely efficient, personable and helpful. I used the bar and ordered dessert and the staff were wonderful. The music in the foyer is wonderful and adds to the feel of the Savoy.
Upon arrival the receptionist who checked me in was not overly friendly and did not smile. It is just a little thing but I usually stay at the Mantra and upon arrival the receptionists are extremely welcoming.

I chose The Savoy because it was close to Southern Cross station and it was good value for $$ and brekkie was included. Location was perfect, not just because of the station, but the tram system was really easy and free. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful old building that has been very well kept. The room was spacious, clean with everything you needed (though there are never enough hooks, are there). Brekkie was huge and assorted.....loving that there was fresh fruit & yoghurt. Will definitely do Melbourne again and we will stay at the Savoy.
Everything was fantastic.

Very helpful staff, accommodating and friendly. The Savoy was perfectly located for our family group. I was pleasantly surprised at the pretty rooms for all three. A couple of minor room problems were immediately fixed by a pleasant young man. Breakfast included was much appreciated and generous. Thank you, I was the co-ordinator and I was very relieved at the style and ambience of the Hotel.
I would have liked more lounge area. The Alexander Bar is popular and comfortable but I hadn't noticed the coffee area and had coffee elsewhere so I knew we were taking up valuable real estate waiting to regroup, so had to make a sacrifice and have an early wine. Terrible I know.

Always stay at the Savoy for preference, location and ease of access as just across from Spencer Street Station (yes there is other across from the station). Preference also is access to hotel is still old style walk in and straight to the elevator not the present need to swipe in just to use the lift.
Not a big issue but hotel is starting to show its age again (believed done multiple upgrades) as has a multitude of little cosmetic issues as old cabinets, old fridges and other worn fixtures. Could look at a decent update considering hotel is constructed and its layout as per how to upgrade rooms as would need to stay with the present framework of rooms.

The location of this hotel is excellent. A short walk into the main part of Melbourne City and there are numerous nearby cafes. The location is directly across from the train station so easy to access if needed. The hotel was very neat and tidy, the room was spacious and accessible. The bathroom was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and clean. We also utilized the gym whilst here and that was also very clean, minimal equipment but still very good.
Given the location of the hotel being so close to the city, it is quite loud outside, nothing to do with the hotel itself, but you can very much hear the trams nearby. Also given how close to the train station the hotel is there are some rough individuals in the surrounding arears.
